This contemporary lodge sits in quiet rural Cornwall, part of a small development set off the beaten track with far-reaching views south towards The Lizard. Made for couples and small families of four who want both coast and calm, it works for surfing holidays as easily as slower stays meandering through the countryside. Cycling and walking trails thread through the surrounds, joined by horse-riding routes, and both of Cornwall's coastlines lie within reach, with cliff paths and hidden coves to the north and sheltered sailing waters to the south. The activities centre at Stithians Lake (2 miles) draws sailors and water sports fans, while the maritime town of Falmouth (9.5 miles), the granite streets of St Ives (19.5 miles), and the Eden Project's (31 miles) biomes make for varied days out to whet everyone's appetite. The Southwest Coast Path traces the cliffs on both the north and south shores, giving miles of walking above the water soaking up spectacular views.
Step inside into one bright, open-plan room. The kitchen runs along one side and is well equipped so the chef of the group can plan and concoct all sorts of meals. Adjacent, the dining table is set in front of the French doors and is close enough to the kitchen so that whoever is cooking stays part of the conversation. Sofas face the TV in the living area, where you can curl up of an evening and watch films or your favourite shows. As the day draws to a close, head through to the king-size bedroom which has an en-suite shower room with a shower and a WC. Next door, the second bedroom is arranged as a twin and can be set up as a double should you require, which makes the layout workable for two couples as well as for a family with children. This room is served by the family bathroom, a generous space with a shower over the bath, plus a WC.
The south-facing decked area is the lodge's second living room, with a picnic bench that provides a space for al fresco dining or stargazing with an evening tipple. An outdoor hot tub is set out under open sky for soaking up the views after your busy day exploring. Guests also have use of the wildflower area and the children's play park, both shared with others staying on the development. Parking is available at the lodge.
