Go cold water swimming in Bude’s charming sea pool or build sandcastles or catch some surf at Summerleaze Beach, Crooklets Beach (2 miles) or Widemouth Bay (3.5 miles). Take a trip 17 miles south to Tintagel to learn more about its Arthurian connections. But do go early to try to beat the crowds and make the most of the day. Learn about the magical past, myths and folklore of Boscastle (13 miles), at the village’s Museum of Witchcraft before strolling around the natural harbour.
