The 12 best restaurants and pubs in Porthleven

Deborah Caine 04 June 2024

Dubbed Cornwall’s newest foodie destination, this stunning harbourside town 3 miles from Helston, boasts Britain’s most southerly port. Smaller than Padstow and St Ives, with a residential population of around 3,100 people, Porthleven is abundant in traditional Cornish charm and wild weather and is known as a big-wave hotspot. An array of pretty buildings curve around the harbourfront and there’s a pier which reaches out into the Atlantic. Beneath this, you’ll find the town’s sand and shingle beach which, at low tide, stretches southeast for 3 miles.

With interesting shops, cosy pubs, and a wealth of fantastic restaurants, there are also plenty of things to do in and around the town. To give you a flavour of the dining scope, we’ve compiled a summary of some of our best Porthleven restaurants and eateries, along with pricing indications and listed opening hours (which may update as the season progresses).

Whether you’re thinking fine dining, a lobster lunch, or family fish and chips by the sea, know you’ll find a fabulous selection of restaurants in Porthleven. Continue scrolling to find out more or tap the button below to begin your Porthleven cottage search straight away.
