Porthcothan Bay is another of those locations which is just waiting to be discovered and explored. Within easy reach of Padstow and St Merryn, and a short drive up the coast road from Newquay and Mawgan Porth, the sheltered, sandy bay at Porthcothan is another of the many family-friendly beaches that can be enjoyed along this part of the coastline. It is also dog-friendly all year round, and boasts picturesque cliff walks and outstanding scenery. The area around Porthcothan is also home to a wide variety of sea birds, and the cliffs are often grazed by ponies and sheep, which helps with conservation of local plant life. The nearby village of St Merryn and the town of Padstow offer an excellent choice of pubs and restaurants. Porthcothan Bay is also close to the village of St Eval, where anyone, whatever your age, can have loads of fun on the Karting Circuit, and when you're done, you can visit nearby Kernow Chocolate where you will find a wide range of yummy chocolate treats!
