Watch the boats sail in and out of the harbour when you stay at this hillside retreat in the charming village of Polruan in Cornwall. Sleeping four guests, the two-bedroom cottage is just 100 yards from the quay and 350 metres from the landing with its ferries over to Fowey. Relax out in the tiered garden at this modern holiday home or head out on scenic walks along the South West Coast Path or to nearby beaches to swim, snorkel and bask on the sand.
Head into this airy property to find it has a reverse-level design to make the most of the harbour views. At ground-floor level, you will find a comfortable king-size bedroom, with en-suite shower room, and a twin bedroom, with an en-suite bathroom. Both bedrooms have TVs so you can enjoy lazy mornings in bed. Head up to the first floor to unwind in the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner, which has a vaulted ceiling and window seat where you can lose yourselves for hours gazing out across the water to Fowey. Prepare tasty dishes in here too, using the fresh, local produce you have shopped for on your trips out, then dine at the table. A washing machine is in a utility cupboard in the hall. Enjoy the sea air out in the garden to the front of the house or soak up the sunshine in the tiered, lawned garden to the rear. There is parking for one car, accessed via a slope and steep steps, about 50 metres from the house.
Stroll just 200 metres to pick up the South West Coast Path and walk out along the cliffs as far as you wish. The National Trust’s scenic cove at Lantic Bay, where you can swim, is 1.5 miles away and Lansallos Beach is 3 miles away.
