Get away from it all in this idyllic cottage in West Cornwall. The charming holiday home is tucked away on the edge of the tiny village of Porkellis, yet is within easy reach of Cornish hotspots such as Falmouth (5 miles) and Porthleven (8 miles). The property sleeps four guests and makes a lovely couples’ retreat or base for a small family. After a day of adventure, return home to bask in the sunshine in the patio garden.

Characterful granite steps lead to the front door of this delightful holiday retreat. Inside, the cottage is decorated in calming, neutral tones and is full of personality thanks to beamed ceilings and exposed, granite walls. Enter the property into the bright and airy dining room, where you can gather for family mealtimes after a long coastal walk. From here, move through to the cosy lounge, featuring a plump sofa and armchairs arranged around a TV. Completing the ground floor is a kitchen with everything needed for a self-catering holiday. When it’s time for bed, choose from two first-floor bedrooms, a double and a twin, both with en-suite facilities. Outside, steps lead down to a pretty patio area where you can catch the late afternoon sunshine as you enjoy a glass of wine or fire up the BBQ. There is private, off-road parking for one car.

Falmouth is just 5 miles away with it's colourful vibrant atmosphere and rich maritime history. Embrace the Cornish way of life in the rugged fishing town of Porthleven. Potter around its picturesque, double harbour, before refuelling in one of the welcoming pubs or seafood restaurants. Pick up delicious local produce at the open-air markets, before striding out along the beach or the dramatic coastal paths to work up an appetite for your supper. Further afield, enjoy excursions to the cathedral city of Truro (13 miles) or the breathtakingly beautiful Lizard Peninsula (8 miles).

Beautiful, cozy and comfortable cottage. It would not suit everyone as it has steep uneven steps that the photos do not portray. There are no rails and at night the light would not show up the top to guide you down. There is a drop by the door at the side of the steps that both dogs and children could easily fall from. There is a gate that goes oveRead morer the top between the wall. It does not fit well, but does enclose the top grassed garden area. Beds were comfy and kitchen had all you needed. It could do with a proper curtain or blind in the double bedroom as the sun wakes you up early in the morning. The cottage was well equipped and in a good location. You need to be good at reversing and parking as the parking area is quite tight and involves a few manoeuvres to get in/out. There are some amazing walks on the doorstep. It is ideal for exploring the gardens of Cornwall and easily assessable for beaches. There are so many beaches, gardens and pubs that are dog friendly. There is a lovely dining room as you enter the cottage that is fab for taking coats, boots and drying the dog before going into the lounge. Most definitely be aware of the steps before booking, especially if dark evenings and wet weather are predicted. Response from Holidaycottages.co.uk - thank you very much for your detailed feedback, Good to hear that you enjoyed your stay. The owner has now fitted a blind in the bedroom as suggested. Hide
