Watergate Bay offers 2 miles of golden sand to explore, plus great waves for surfing all year. Local companies even provide surfing, kayaking and paddle-boarding lessons and hire on the beach. Watergate Bay also offers beachfront cafes and eateries, but do note this fabulous set-up means there are surfing and music events, so check the calendar if this isn’t your scene. Lace up your walking boots and grab the dog lead to explore the South West Coast Path: 2.5 miles north to Mawgan Porth, while southwards lies Porth Beach (3 miles). But for stocking up, eating out or a livelier sea and surf atmosphere, perennially popular Newquay is just 3 miles away.
