Explore spectacular Bodmin Moor and enjoy riverside walks from this romantic rural retreat. Set within a 300-year-old barn, the single-storey cottage sleeps just two guests.
Private fishing rights allow the fisher folk in your party to enjoy our fully licensed stretch of the river Fowey. A true moorland river, the Fowey rises at the highest point in Cornwall near Brown Willy on Bodmin. It flows for 30 miles to the sea at Fowey, passing us here below your stay at Rivermead, and is little influenced by agricultural or industrial activities. Characteristically termed 'gin clear' within the community, it provides a good challenge to the keenest of fly fishers.
Tear yourself away from the scenery to enter this inviting abode via a porch where you can leave your outerwear. Head through to the compact kitchen to put the kettle on or start preparing a tasty dinner for two. Serve up through in the delightful lounge/diner, where you can also spend quiet evenings in together in front of a good film on TV. When you are ready to retire for the night, wander through to the double bedroom to enjoy a relaxing sleep. Awake to an invigorating shower in the shower room before heading outside for morning coffee in the sunshine of the seating area. There is also a BBQ out here to fire up on balmy summer afternoons and evenings. Explore the impressive grounds here at your leisure.
Walk 2 miles from the cottage to reach the fringes of Bodmin Moor, with its many footpaths and trails. Visit the National Trust’s impressive late Victorian country house at Lanhydrock, 5 miles away. Explore the gardens and parkland here, as well as the house, and find a range of cycle trails too. Venture 13 miles to the sandy beach at East Looe to swim and picnic on the sand. National Trust’s picturesque Lantic Bay is about the same distance from the cottage and another great coastal destination. Have a day out to the Eden Project, 12 miles from your base. Truro is only a short drive away.
