Escape with your loved ones to this charming stone-built single-storey cottage set in 17 acres of woodland on the River Fowey in mid-Cornwall. Sleeping four people in two bedrooms, this home-away-from-home is perfect for small families or groups of friends who are seeking an unforgettable retreat in the Cornish countryside. During the day, walk along the South West Coast Path to the beach at Readymoney Cove, or cast a line to catch some salmon and trout in the River Fowey. In the evening, come home to the cottage to host a BBQ in the pretty garden.
Step inside this beautiful 300-year-old barn-conversion and take a little time to unwind in the roomy open-plan living/dining area, before heading to the stylish kitchen to prepare dinner. Gather your loved ones around the dining table to eat – it’s bathed in natural light from the large windows. Alternatively, step out onto the garden, light up the charcoal BBQ and dine alfresco. After dinner, take a peaceful walk along the river, or get cosy in the living area in front of the TV. When the day is done, there are two lovely bedrooms to choose from.
Private fishing rights allow the fisher folk in your party to enjoy our fully licensed stretch of the river Fowey. A true moorland river, the Fowey rises at the highest point in Cornwall near Brown Willy on Bodmin. It flows for 30 miles to the sea at Fowey, passing us here below your stay at Rivermead, and is little influenced by agricultural or industrial activities. Characteristically termed 'gin clear' within the community, it provides a good challenge to the keenest of fly fishers.
Nature lovers, get ready for an unforgettable adventure at the Eden Project (7 miles), where you can trek through the world’s largest indoor rainforest and immerse yourself in the calm fragrance of the Mediterranean in the attraction’s unique biomes. Alternatively, head to Fowey Town Quay (0.5 miles) to spend a peaceful afternoon watching the boats coming and going. Browse the stores and sample the local seafood in a friendly waterfront eatery.
