Penzance is a historic port on the south-facing shores of Mount's Bay, it has one of the mildest UK climates with a profusion of exotic plants and palm trees. Looking out to sea you will be entranced by the impressive St Michael's Mount emerging from the sparkling waters and at low tide you can walk across the causeway to explore the medieval castle and glorious sub-tropical gardens. Close by are many fantastic beaches such as Marazion, Perranuthnoe and Porthchapel and the South West Coast Path can be joined within a 5 minute walk. From Penzance train station there is a regular service on the scenic railway that runs to the artist's colony of St Ives.

The renowned Art Deco lido - the Jubilee Pool on the Promenade, which was re-opened in May 2016 - is great for a safe swim in seawater. Penzance itself is home to a thriving arts scene with The Exchange Gallery, Penlee House Gallery and Newlyn School of Art all nearby. The Georgian squares and sweeping promenade are perfect for an early evening stroll before dinner in one of the many independent bistros and restaurants. Marina View is ideally placed to visit one of the many local festivals taking place in the area throughout the year including the Golowan Festival which is a big spectacle with carnival style street parades and celebrates music, performing arts and the theatre, the Literary Festival celebrating the written word and the Newlyn Fish Festival.

Offering comfortable accommodation for two set across three floors, Marina View is a charming former artist's house tucked away down a cobbled alley off historic Chapel Street and has beautiful sea views from both floors across to Mount's Bay. We had a lovely week in Marina View, the property is very handy for the local shops, pubs and amenities.

Mr Brian J,

Penzance is an historic port, well known for being the most westerly major town in Cornwall. The town has an abundance of palm trees and sub-tropical gardens located throughout, a sure sign that you have arrived somewhere truly special, made even more distinctive by the sight of St Michael's Mount out to sea.

Take a stroll along the town's streets and discover the characteristic pubs, top notch restaurants, antique shops, art galleries and more or have a wander along the promenade, grab some fish and chips and sit on the seafront. If you fancy something a bit different, enjoy one of the harbour boat trips, sea safaris or fishing excursions.

The fantastic beaches of Perranuthnoe, Lamorna Cove, Kenneggey Sands and Praa Sands are all located nearby.
