Mousehole Cottages

Cornish Horizons boasts a collection of delightful holiday cottages to rent in the enchanting coastal village Mousehole, in Cornwall. Situated just three miles west of Penzance, Mousehole - pronounced “mowsul” - is home to a sandy beach and winsome harbour, ideal for a peaceful break. The village was a bustling port in the early twentieth century, but has since quietened down. Once described by Dylan Thomas as the loveliest village in England, Mousehole has retained much of its old-fashioned charm, and our cottages match this.

From snug terrace cottages for two, to luxury private homes and dog-friendly lets, our properties in Mousehole have something for everyone. Many of our properties are just a stone's-throw away from the harbour, and have stunning views of Mousehole beach and the surrounding landscape. Fancy a conservatory to take in the sea views at any hour, and in any weather? We have you covered. Or would you prefer a wood burner or open fire to create that snug, warm feeling of relaxation after a day of activity? We have you covered there too. All our properties to rent in Mousehole are typically Cornish, with charming interiors, original period features and mod-cons to add.

Mousehole harbour is backed up by a maze of narrow streets, bursting with independent cafes, restaurants, shops and art galleries, which make for a lovely day of mooching. Whether you fancy picking up souvenirs from The Mousehole gift shop, or grab some pub grub at the Ship Inn, Mousehole has plenty to offer despite its small size.

Mousehole is also perfectly located within West Cornwall, a region renowned for its natural beauty and famous seaside towns. St Micheal’s Mount, Porthcurno beach and Lizard are all within driving distance along this outstanding coastline. St Micheal’s Mount is steeped in myth and legend and is a must-visit attraction for anyone interested in monastic history. If you’re less bothered about the history, but still love a landmark, the Mount is stunning in its own right. The West Cornwall coast has recently become the location of one of TV’s most successful period dramas, Poldark. If you are a fan of the show - perhaps you’re even venturing here because of the show - it is possible to book a Poldark tour!

There’s also plenty of events to keep the whole family entertained, throughout the year, in Mousehole and the surrounding area. Visitors during the winter months will be greeted by Mousehole’s famous Christmas lights display, something which is bound to capture the attention of little ones and adults alike. The Minack Theatre is a half an hour drive from Mousehole and has performances all year round. As the UK’s most famous outdoor theatre, the Minack’s amphitheatre structure and view looking out onto the sea offers a once in a lifetime theatre experience. Trengwainton Gardens are also nearby and is great for a dog walk or pet less stroll through some beautiful floral scenery.

Aside from all the attractions Mousehole and West Cornwall have to offer, they do, of course, offer quintessentially Cornish experiences all year round. From pasties to cider, to breath-taking views and properties to match, Mousehole has everything you would want from a Cornish holiday.
