Polruan is a little village situated at the mouth of the Fowey Estuary where the river meets the sea. Fowey itself is just across the river and can be reached either by a short (and very scenic!) ride across on regular passenger ferry or by car ferry from nearby Bodinnick. Also, from Easter till the end of September a water taxi is in operation.
Polruan and the surround area has many fabulous walks and the stunning scenery never fails to impress. The perfect location for photographers, artists and wildlife enthusiasts or those who love to be out on the water. With fishing and sailing trips available and kayaks and boats to hire, there is something for everyone.
The heart of the village is the quay where two tiny beaches can be found, along with the Fowey ferry and a brilliant local pub. Serving great food this popular inn also does food to take away. Polruan has a café and grocery store and Fowey has plenty of fantastic restaurants and independent shops as well as an aquarium and local museum.
