Boasting incredible river views from nearly every room, this cottage is the very definition of tranquillity. With shops, bars and restaurants only 350 metres away, it’s the perfect place to enjoy quality time with your family at the seaside.

Step inside this quaint property and instantly find yourselves immersed in the comfort of the home. Soft furnishings and ambient lighting present a calming spot to spend an afternoon or evening. Pop on the electric fire, sink into the pillowy sofas with a book in hand and admire the views out over the river. Gather your guests around the table for six and serve up a feast made in the well-equipped kitchen space. Chatter into the night with cool glasses of wine before retiring to one of three bedrooms. Choose from the king-size on the ground floor or a double bed or twin room on the top floor, all offering an unbeatable night’s sleep. Start your morning in the garden, where a mug of piping hot tea goes down nicely with the comings and goings of the boats sailing into Looe Harbour.

Tucked into the hillside, this property is a fantastic hideaway for keen walkers and beach babies. Head down to the centre of Looe, just 350 metres away, and pick up freshly caught fish for supper. Recharge the batteries with coffee and cake at one of the many cosy cafés and restaurants, before moseying around the independent boutiques and galleries. Spend days building sandcastles and rock pooling on Looe Beach (0.5 miles) or pick up the South West Coast Path and take the 5.5-mile trail to Polperro. Pass Mediterranean-style vistas and historic ruins, and arrive to find narrow streets, pretty cottages, and pedestrianised pathways lined with bakeries, exhibitions and the occasional Morris dancer.

Lovely accommodation Alvaston. We have stayed in Looe many times, this is the best place we have stayed in. We had a fantastic new year in fancy dress and thank you Looe for putting on the fireworks. We would return to this house.

Alvaston is a perfect property for a family holiday in Looe. As described, there are lots of steps (Looe is on a hill!) so probably not ideal for the very young or very old, but for us (family of 4 with 13 year old and 9 year old kids) it was spot on - close enough to Looe for really easy access, far enough out to be wonderfully peaceful. The houseRead more has everything you need for a great stay, with beautiful views over the river and into town. We cant wait to stay in Alvaston again! Hide

A really lovely place to stay - with lovely views and easy access to the town. It has been great enjoying the quay, beach and the woods too. Thank you for giving us the highchair when requested. Our children enjoyed the space to play and the chance to buy treats from local shops. A delightful retreat.
