This delightful seaside house is set in a commanding position on the hillside in the Hannafore area of West Looe overlooking the whole of the town below. With the most incredible views from the front-facing rooms, you will find yourself drawn to the windows to gaze at the outstanding panorama. The pale, sandy beach is in full view together with the sparkling waters of the bay across to St George’s Island. The famous Banjo Pier stretches out below and you can watch the local fishing boats making their way into the harbour with their catch-of-the-day. You can join the South West Coast Path right outside the house and make your way along to Hannafore Beach to discover fantastic rock pools. The leisure and spa facilities at the Hannafore Hotel are a short walk away and here you can make use of the indoor heated swimming pool, sauna and steam room or enjoy a relaxing treatment at competitive prices.
The Gulls is set across three levels with the open-plan living room on the ground floor. Amazing place, definitely worth staying and using as a base to explore Cornwall. The views are incredible, the showers are great, as well as the fact that every bedroom has a bathroom, and the kitchen is very well equipped.
The town of Looe has charming narrow streets leading down to a picturesque harbour, and is split into East and West Looe by the river that runs through it, and on down to the beach. Looe's sandy beach has a little cafe where you can linger over a cup of coffee while people-watching or admiring the view.
There are a number of lovely cafes, as well as restaurants and pubs to choose from, making this a great destination for the foodies among you. You will have the opportunity to buy freshly-caught fish from the market on the quay, or if you fancy it, go out on a fishing trip to have a go at catching your own!
If you don't fancy fishing, a good alternative boat trip is to Looe Island, where you can find some lovely examples of rare plants, and spot plenty of wildlife, including grey seals and seabirds. Looe Marine Conservation Group can give you more information about the island and its wildlife.
Looe is said to be a wonderful place to enjoy the New Year festivities, a time when many happy party-goers in fancy dress descend upon the town to soak up the atmosphere and enjoy a magnificent display of fireworks.
