With its contemporary, stylish interior finished to a high specification with oak doors, oak flooring and underfloor heating throughout, it provides a perfect base to explore the surrounding coastline of the Cornish Riviera.

Stena Gwyn stands in an elevated position on the hillside and being just a short distance from the village centre, local eateries and shops are within easy reach. Par Sands beach, with its long expanse of firm sands backed by dunes, parking and on-hand facilities, is popular with families and a 10 minute drive will take you to the pretty Georgian harbour of Charlestown, renowned for featuring in the recent Poldark series. A short drive will take you to the quaint fishing port of Mevagissey with its range of gift shops, galleries, cafes and restaurants. From here you can catch a ferry to Fowey or take a fishing trip from the harbour. Be sure also to pay a visit to the famous Eden Project nearby.

Local Area

St Austell is located near a stretch of coastline that is often referred to as the Cornish Riviera. The South coast of Cornwall is generally more sheltered than the wild and windswept North, and there are some excellent beaches in this area. As well as Carlyon Bay, there is also Pentewan Sands, further south, and Par beach (which is dog-friendly all year round) to the north-west.  The area is very handy for both the Eden Project (excellent for families with its interactive and educational displays) and the Lost Gardens of Heligan, rediscovered some 25 years ago and now restored to their former glory. The Lost Gardens are another family-friendly attraction, with a cafe, picnic area and lots of animals to see, and they also welcome dogs on leads. Carlyon Bay nestles in between two Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and is also close to Charlestown, a historic port which has often been used as a location for filming several TV dramas including the recent adaptation of Poldark. Venture East along the coast and you will find the towns of Looe, Polperro and Fowey, and if you head West you can visit Mevagissey. A little way inland, St Austell has plenty of shops, pubs and a cinema complex.

The property we stayed in was excellent in every way. It was modern and furnished to an exceptional and high standard. Everything was so clean, it was actually better than staying in a 5 star hotel. The view from the apartment is excellent and a fabulous way to relax and unwind after a long day out. You can actually walk to the beach from the apartment in about 6 to 7 minutes.Miss P Shah - 2nd October 2017
