Description

Perfectly situated in the creekside village of Lerryn, Mote Cottage is a traditional, stone-built cottage with many character features. It is located just steps away from the ancient bridge spanning the River Lerryn with the nearby 16thcentury village pub offering locally-sourced home-made food and a village store on hand for all your necessary supplies. A quaint cottage with charm and history which offers all modern comforts, quality furnishings and plenty of space for four. A private terrace to the rear provides a tranquil place for al fresco dining or relaxation time to just read a book and listen to the birdsong. Mote Cottage is an ideal choice for a countryside retreat within an easy distance of the south coast of Cornwall and many local attractions.

For ramblers there’s a delightful walk from the bridge, through wooded valleys and along a meandering path around the banks of the Fowey estuary to the quay and church of St Winnow – famous for featuring in the original Poldark TV series. Lostwithiel town is a 10 minute drive away and here you will find many antique shops to browse, local cafes to scoff home-baked cakes and a busy festival calendar to enjoy throughout the year. A 20min drive is all it takes to reach the picturesque estuary town of Fowey, with all its marine activity, and a great place to explore.

Really lovely cottage to stay in. Very quirky but that’s what made it so impressive. Great value for money and a beautiful village location. Thank you.

The stretch of beautiful, unspoilt countryside between the bustling market town of Lostwithiel and the harbour town of Fowey is the perfect destination for a relaxing holiday.  It is bordered by the stunning river Fowey which provides opportunities for kayaking, sailing and messing around on the water, as well as miles of walking trails and beautiful views.  Only a 20 minute drive takes you to the port of Charlestown with tall ships lining the harbour.  You may recognise the little village from the many productions it has featured in including Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland and, more recently, the BBC's Poldark series.  The world renowned Eden Project is just a 10 minute drive and the area is well served by some lovely sandy beaches.  The little cove at Fowey is popular with locals and visitors alike and the beach at Polkerris is a fantastic spot for families with a sheltered bay and ample opportunities for watersports with equipment hire and tuition available.
