Merlin Cottage is set in a sheltered valley surrounded by wonderful Cornish countryside in the small hamlet of Milltown. Peaceful and quiet, this 500 year old property is within 400 yards of the River Fowey and a lovely place to stay for those who like to be close to nature.  The popular port town of Fowey and several beautiful sandy beaches are all a ten minute drive, with the nearest shops and inns two miles away in the market town of Lostwithiel. This lively town has plenty of independent shops, cafes and restaurants to explore as well as more than its fair share of interesting antique and vintage establishments.  Merlin Cottage was believed to have once been a 'kiddlywink' - somewhere locals could buy beer and cider to drink outside (as opposed to inside like an Inn).  Built of stone and cob the property has created a comfortable holiday base with an open fire for cosy nights in. The lovely garden and paved terrace provide a pretty spot for a meal alfresco. Adjoining the cottage is a large stone store room which is ideal for housing canoes, mountain bikes or a trailer.

This property offers a small group discount of 20% for parties of 2 or fewer on full weekly bookings at certain times of the year.  This discount is automatically applied and the holiday price you are quoted reflects this. The stretch of beautiful, unspoilt countryside between the bustling market town of Lostwithiel and the harbour town of Fowey is the perfect destination for a relaxing holiday.  It is bordered by the stunning river Fowey which provides opportunities for kayaking, sailing and messing around on the water, as well as miles of walking trails and beautiful views.  Only a 20 minute drive takes you to the port of Charlestown with tall ships lining the harbour.  You may recognise the little village from the many productions it has featured in including Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland and, more recently, the BBC's Poldark series.  The world renowned Eden Project is just a 10 minute drive and the area is well served by some lovely sandy beaches.  The little cove at Fowey is popular with locals and visitors alike and the beach at Polkerris is a fantastic spot for families with a sheltered bay and ample opportunities for watersports with equipment hire and tuition available.
