If you’re looking for historic character and a back-to-nature retreat, then this is your perfect holiday destination. This charming 500-year-old house is close to the river, and is ideal for couples and families (plus two furry friends) who wish to sail, kayak, cycle, walk or generally explore the unspoilt countryside between Lostwithiel and Fowey.

Built of stone and cob, and featuring low ceilings and exposed beams, this atmospheric house offers antiques alongside modern comforts. After a day outdoors you’ll relish the comfortable lounge, with its selection of seating and impressive open fire. In this room there’s also a selection of books by Cornish authors, plus a Smart TV. The kitchen/diner has a farmhouse feel, with a dresser and wooden dining table, while the kitchen itself contains everything you’ll need for creating delicious meals. On the ground floor there’s also a utility room and a sweet family bathroom. Head upstairs to find the three bedrooms: a double, a twin and a single, all prettily decorated and with deep-set windows. The lovely garden and paved terrace provide an appealing spot for a meal al fresco while listening to the birds. Adjoining the cottage is a large store room, ideal for housing canoes, mountain bikes or a trailer.

The cottage is set in the small hamlet of Milltown, surrounded by unspoilt Cornish countryside, and within 400 yards of the River Fowey. Spend your days taking peaceful strolls alongside the river or messing about on the water, or head into Lostwithiel, 2 miles, and explore its inspiring range of independent boutiques, antiques shops, cafes, restaurants and pubs. The beach at Polkerris is only 5 miles away, as is the chic harbour town of Fowey, while the Eden Project is 5.5 miles and the port of Charlestown, with its tall ships, is 7.5 miles.

Beautiful cottage with lots of lovely forest and river walks from the door. Spotlessly clean house and well equipped kitchen. Great open fire and comfortable furniture.
