Having such marvellous coastline can often overshadow our gorgeous countryside! With a mixed bag of rainfall and sunshine our luscious countryside is ideal for walks, cycling, picnics… Whatever you fancy really! You’ll never be too far away from the sea, but be sure to set aside some time to head inland. There are some charming towns and villages just waiting to be explored!
Coverack on the southern edge of the Lizard Peninsula, is a small picturesque fishing village built on two sides of a spur of rock that juts out into the sea. The village retains much of its original charm and atmosphere. The beach at Coverack is a large, sheltered, crescent-shaped arc of sand that is perfect for swimming and windsurfing. It is the ideal holiday location for watersports such as snorkelling, scuba diving and windsurfing. The South West Coastal Path is close by where you can enjoy glorious scenery and a walk to Lizard Point – the most southerly point in Britain.
Fishing boats and pleasure craft shelter in Coverack's small harbour - built out of the local green serpentine rock (some of the oldest geological strata known to exist).
The Lizard Peninsula is home to many little fishing ports with huge granite sea walls, restaurants specialising in freshly caught seafood and gorgeous sandy bays with rocks jutting out into the sea. You will find plenty of pretty coves and beaches to explore such as Kynance Cove, Kennack Sands and Polurrian Cove.
You can visit the Lizard Lighthouse, Roskilly's Farm where they produce their own Cornish ice cream, the Marconi centre at Poldhu, see the camels as Rosuick Organic Farm, enjoy a sea fishing trip to catch your supper and visit many other fascinating places.
