Porthleven is an unspoilt gem...easy access on good roads to all the places on your tick list. Shops, pubs and restaurants all soooooo friendly..and dog friendly too...we spent three of our days just mooching around the village and coastline...unheard of for us. Such a relaxing place. The property we rented..Merrilee..was lovely..well thought out and very comfortable...bed was amazing... and the owner left added touches which made such a difference after a long drive....fresh flowers, wine, milk , eggs and a cream tea all laid out. FAB. To have enjoyed our holiday this much with " not so good" weather, it must be a great place!
By far the best cottage we have stayed in in the last twenty years.
Will be booking to stay there again next year.
First class cottage fully equipped!
Sue the owner of Merrilee made us super welcome and was on hand if there was anything we needed - which was unlikely as the house was so very well equipped and a real home from home. Porthleven itself is a lovely friendly town with a great beach and walks, plus lots of great cafes, restaurants and shops. We will definitely be coming back again.
Beautiful cottage, spotlessly clean, extremely comfortable beds, well equipped kitchen, lovely and cosy (we enjoyed using the log burner during the evenings too). Perfect cottage for a family break. We hope to return and will definitely recommend to friends and family.
Really lovely stay at Sues cottage. The space is very well thought out with lots of extra finishing touches. The bedrooms are a great size and the lounge is a perfect relaxation space. Porthleven is a great location for exploring south Cornwall and the cottage is within walking distance of local shops, pubs and restaurants. This is our second visit and we would live to return!
This is a lovely place to stay, pristine and beautifully renovated. Modern finish but homely. Perfect location for walking to the harbour and beach and lots of wonderful cafes and restaurants to tempt you in Porthleven.
This is a wonderful cottage a few minutes walk from the harbour, where you will find plenty of local pubs & restaurants, all serving great food, craft ales and most importantly for us, were dog friendly. The cottage is plenty big enough for a family of 4, with everything you could want on a week away.
We have had one of the best family experiences yet whilst staying at Sue’s place. Porthleven is incredible, everyone is friendly, the food is delicious and to top,if off, Sue’s place is right in the middle, a real instant home for all of us. Loved everything about it.
Set on the west coast of the spectacular Lizard Peninsula, the little harbour town of Porthleven is the quintessential Cornish fishing port. Centred around the harbour, it boasts an array of cafés, restaurants and galleries and exudes a chilled, relaxed atmosphere. Porthleven is the most southerly working port in the UK, with fishing boats operating out of the harbour. This makes the town a great spot to enjoy some delicious seafood, straight from the fishing boats to the restaurants, it couldn’t be fresher!
Porthleven beach can be accessed from the town itself and provides a long expanse of sand which is separated into segments by several rocky outcrops. While away the glorious summer days relaxing on the beach with a locally made ice cream in hand!
Situated part way along a huge sweeping bay, it faces the Atlantic Ocean and is often on the receiving end of some mighty winter storms! A fabulous destination for a winter break; marvel at the awe-inspiring waves pounding the harbour walls from the cosy safety of the local pub!
The surrounding area doesn’t disappoint either; located in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the views from every cove or clifftop are picture-perfect. Travel north-west and you’ll reach Marazion, home of St Michael’s Mount – an absolute ‘must’. South takes you to the tip of the Lizard Peninsula, Lizard Point, one of Cornwall’s most iconic spots.
You won’t tire of the walks and stunning scenery, but if you fancy a day out, try the Seal Sanctuary, Flambards or Trebah Gardens. Or, go a little further afield and you can explore Penzance, Land’s End and St Ives.
