After a day exploring lovely Porthleven, what could be nicer than gathering in the upstairs living space of this airy cottage and admiring the wonderful sea views? This is a super base for couples or families to escape and recharge on the south coast of Cornwall.

Decorated in a crisp yet cosy New England style, combining calming neutrals with coastal blue and white, this reverse-level house is instantly appealing. Open the patio doors and enjoy a morning coffee or a sundowner at the bistro table on the balcony. If you wish to serve up an alfresco meal for four, the enclosed courtyard at the front of the property has an outside table and chairs and, of course, amazing sea views. The small beach opposite the cottage is accessible during low tide, while if you’re looking to spend the whole day building sand castles or swimming and sunbathing, family-friendly Praa Sands is just 5.5 miles, and Perranuthnoe is 8 miles. For great days out, the iconic St Michael’s Mount is 9.5 miles, Trebah Garden is 12 miles and St Ives only 17 miles.

The fabulous location of this upside down cottage enables guests to savour the full breadth of Mounts Bay from the comfort of the sofa, including occasional sightings of a seal or even dolphin. The nearby Atlantic Inn has a welcoming vibe and a great view of sunsets. Step out of the front door onto the coastal path to Gunwalloe Cove or Praa Sands iRead moren the opposite direction. Porthleven is an enjoyable stroll downhill to the picturesque harbour where a multitude of excellent eateries await or the local independent Pengellys store for essentials. Hide

The cottage was lovely, exactly as described, with everything you would need included. The views over the sea are fantastic, sadly no big storms while we were there, but the weather was good and meant we could open the French doors and enjoy the sunshine. The walk down to Porthleven was pretty and easily walkable with great cafes and would recommenRead mored the Habour Inn to eat out, very dog friendly. One downside, the pillows were uncomfortable, but a very small niggle in comparison to the really good standard of the property. Having a garage was useful although if you own a large 4x4 I doubt it would fit. The patio area outside was great for drying the dog after visiting the beach. Would definitely come back and stay again. Hide

We've stayed at Cliff Top Cottage before and love it. The views are gorgeous and it is only a short walk into Porthleven where there are many places to eat and drink. Such a relaxing place to stay.

Hi, We have been staying at Cliff Top Cottage this week and the cottage has been lovely, BUT, we unfortunately have issues with building work within 4 or 5m of the front door. This includes cement mixer, drilling, cutting breeze blocks and tiles, creating horrendous noise and dust, plus a large white builders van parked obstructing our view of theRead more sea most of the day. We realise the building work is outside your control, however, from a guest point of view it makes a quiet and relaxing holiday, which we anticipated, impossible. Perhaps it would be prudent to advise future guests that this building work is going on. Regards, Christine and Tony Haines Booking Ref; 5792463 Hide

It would have been useful to have information on how to open the garage door as this is very tricky (the guest book confirms this)especially as arrival time is now in the dark.We felt two door keys should also be supplied as there is only one entrance/exit to the property so not safe to lock someone in.No laundry bag provided to put bed linen/towelRead mores in as stated on arrival instructions -when we stripped the bed the sheet that had been against the outside wall was dripping wet obviously a damp problem which needs looking in to.
