Reviews

Great position and lovely warm feeling on entering.

Mrs Angela Holburn,

After many years staying in Mullion but walking past Anchor Cottage on visits to Porthleven, we decided to stay here this year. So delighted that the inside is as gorgeous as the outside! Such a comfy, cosy cottage and a lovely week away from the usual stresses.

The Cooper family,

Fabulous cottage.

Mrs Karen Clark,

Lovely little property in superb spot.

Mr Michael Fetherstone,

Love this property....6 visits so far. I hesitate to recommend as it will mean others will stay there and we won’t be able to get a look in.

Ms Lynette Nigh,

Comfortable property with amazing views!

Mrs Caroline Taylor,

We always enjoy our stay at Anchor Cottage and look forward to our visit next year.

Mrs M Bateman,

We have had another great year here in Anchor Cottage! The views of the huge waves and surfers are as good as ever. Spending a lot of time sailing or surfing this week, we have still been quite lucky with the weather. Thank you very much for a lovely stay!

The Bateman family,

Harry, Charlotte, Mandy and Arian,

A wonderful week, good weather, rather warm given the recent snowfall. It was great to sit out front, drink + book in hand watching the world go by. I will think of those moments when sat at the bus stop at 6.30am at the start of my commute to work!!

Julie, Nick and Henry,

Had the most amazing few days in this beautiful cottage. The nicest place we have ever stayed, literally can't fault it - thankyou :)

Sally, Robin, Callum, Kieran and Sean,

Our first stay in Anchor Cottage but not in Porthleven! Been here many times and stayed in many other 'Niche' cottages. Needless to say - it hasn't disappointed! Had a mixed week with the weather - typical January - but as we wanted to watch the sea it didn't matter. Great views from all the sea facing windows. Enjoyed and appreciated the "welcome" scones, jam, cream etc (and the wine!) Lovely cosy, welcoming place - we will be back.

Chris and Tony,

Our second time at Anchor Cottage, Porthleven is our favourite spot, and this is our favourite cottage. A real home from home. The Christmas tree was a lovely surprise. Our little 3 year old son says he wants to live here. We will be back again for more!

The Bright family,

A wonderful relaxing week in Anchor Cottage. Our compliments to the owners for such an attractive, comfortable, warm cottage complete with welcoming Christmas tree, which was such a delight. It has been a great pleasure to stay here in much loved and familiar Porthleven and on arrival we immediately settled in to the peaceful atmosphere of this lovely cottage.

The Curnow family,

Map

Set on the west coast of the spectacular Lizard Peninsula, the little harbour town of Porthleven is the quintessential Cornish fishing port. Centred around the harbour, it boasts an array of cafés, restaurants and galleries and exudes a chilled, relaxed atmosphere. Porthleven is the most southerly working port in the UK, with fishing boats operating out of the harbour. This makes the town a great spot to enjoy some delicious seafood, straight from the fishing boats to the restaurants, it couldn’t be fresher!

Porthleven beach can be accessed from the town itself and provides a long expanse of sand which is separated into segments by several rocky outcrops. While away the glorious summer days relaxing on the beach with a locally made ice cream in hand!

Situated part way along a huge sweeping bay, it faces the Atlantic Ocean and is often on the receiving end of some mighty winter storms! A fabulous destination for a winter break; marvel at the awe-inspiring waves pounding the harbour walls from the cosy safety of the local pub!

The surrounding area doesn’t disappoint either; located in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the views from every cove or clifftop are picture-perfect. Travel north-west and you’ll reach Marazion, home of St Michael’s Mount – an absolute ‘must’. South takes you to the tip of the Lizard Peninsula, Lizard Point, one of Cornwall’s most iconic spots.

You won’t tire of the walks and stunning scenery, but if you fancy a day out, try the Seal Sanctuary, Flambards or Trebah Gardens. Or, go a little further afield and you can explore Penzance, Land’s End and St Ives.
