Country Cottages

What’s on your holiday wish list? A property in a rural setting, full of charm and character? A location with outdoor activities such as walking, cycling and fishing available right from your doorstep? Somewhere to really chill out and relax, away from the hustle and bustle? A cottage in the Cornish countryside ticks all these boxes.

Imagine waking up after a blissful night’s sleep, to the gentle sound of birds singing before enjoying your morning cuppa with far-reaching countryside views. Or sitting outside on the patio, with a chilled glass of wine in hand on a beautiful summer’s evening, taking in the clean, country air, whilst planning your adventures for the next day. Bliss!

So renowned are the beaches in Cornwall that our wonderful countryside barely gets a mention. But the Cornish countryside is full of stunning, rolling green pastures, if ever there was a place to fully appreciate the stark beauty of the Cornish countryside, a rural retreat must be it.

From charming, chocolate-box cottages to contemporary barn conversions, choose from a selection of the best self-catering retreats throughout Cornwall and create holiday memories you’ll remember forever. Dog owners should take a moment to explore our Pet-Friendly holiday cottages, while anyone looking for something extra special should consider our selection of luxury cottages within the Cornish countryside.

A cottage in the countryside is the perfect choice whatever the time of year! Springtime in the countryside is one of our favourites with lambs leaping on the hillsides, meadows full of daffodils and mild temperatures, perfect for enjoying the great outdoors. Summer brings with it more daylight hours to enjoy those evening wanders and alfresco dining. By Autumn, the summer crowds have gone, and the countryside is starting to turn a lovely shade of golden. The winter is also wonderful, tucked up in front of the fire, listening to the crackling wood with a hot cup of cocoa after returning from a brisk walk.

Why not try a cottage on Bodmin Moor? The ultimate countryside destination in Cornwall. With endless sweeping vistas in every direction, tumbled outcrops of granite, and inviting paths and tracks to explore, this area of Cornwall is a walker's paradise. With plenty of sheep and moorland ponies wandering freely (be sure to keep your dog under control!) you can almost imagine you have been transported back to those bygone days. More recently, of course, the moor was used extensively for filming on the new adaptation of Poldark. When the dashing Mr Poldark gallops across your screen, you may well be seeing the scenery of the moor in the background. The villages of Camelford, St Breward and St Tudy are all close to Bodmin Moor, so be sure to drop in for a visit to take advantage of Conrwall’s remarkable countryside and enjoy a warm local welcome.
