Description

This absolutely charming conversion of the former coach house to The Redlands provides a most spacious and comfortable retreat in a fantastic location.  With a wealth of character, lovely features and a wonderful conservatory bordered with planted lilies, this haven from the outside world is just a delight in which to stay.  The well-maintained and pretty garden is sheltered by trees and shrubs and has a stile to get to the footpath to the beach.  The headland is the highest point of land for miles and consequently the views from there are stunning.  Also on the headland will be found the lifeboat station and Trevose lighthouse - if they are open they are well worth a visit.  This unspoilt area is well served by a number of glorious sandy beaches and there are pubs and restaurants within a mile or two.

Local Area

Stunning panoramic views can be seen from Trevose Head, which is the highest point of land along the North Cornish coast.  This vantage point allows you to see, on a clear day, many miles along the shoreline, and indeed nearly all the way along the entire length of coastline, from the border with Devon down to Pendeen Head west of St Ives. The Head and surrounding area is a Site of Special Scientific Interest, and is also home to many seabirds, whose keening cries can be heard for miles around.  Walkers will love exploring the rugged cliffs, where you can see some of the most spectacular scenery in the county, capturing the essence of this area.  Some of the birds that nest here include fulmar, guillemot and razorbill. Also recommended is a visit to the Trevose Lighthouse, and the lifeboat station on the opposite side of the headland, a reminder of the extraordinary work done by the lifeboat volunteers around this wild and rocky coastline. The main beaches along the headland are Constantine Bay, Mother Ivey's Bay and Booby's Bay.  When conditions on Booby's Bay are right, it is possible to see the remains of a wrecked ship looming up out of the sand (though this is often buried when sea currents cause the sand to shift).

Reviews

Very pleased with Redlands Coach House, warm cozy and peaceful surroundingsMr C Higgin - 30th December 2016
The property we stayed in was very comfortable and welcoming. The location was excellent as it was peaceful and very relaxing. We walked most days and the coastline was beautiful, it was wonderful to come back to Redlands Coachouse and would love to go back.Mrs K Hazell - 1st May 2016
A lovely charming cottage, two minutes walk to a sandy beach. Lovely coastal walks in both directions. Waking up to birds tweeting and baby rabbits hopping about on the lawn. Rick Steins' glass bottle wall is certainly a feature(he built it when he lived at the Redlands). Would highly recommend.Mrs R - 29th May 2015
This cottage provides a peaceful holiday retreat in a beautiful and unspoilt part of North Cornwall. The proximity of/access to such a beautiful, uncommerialised beach is a real bonus.Mr D - 28th October 2014
