As the name implies, this is a conversion of two of the three cottages originally built for the coastguard and it is easy to see why; the spectacular panoramic views allow you to see for miles out to sea and along the coast. The Trevose Head lighthouse is just down the road, as is the lifeboat station and both are occasionally open to the public to view - well worth a visit. The beaches of Mother Ivey's Bay and Booby's Bay are about a 10 minute walk but there are several beaches in the locality - one for every day of the week! Coastguard Cottage West is beautifully furnished, well equipped and complete with a large garden, a sun-trap of a courtyard and a balcony to take advantage of the glorious views; what more could you want?

GARDEN & PARKING: Large garden, mainly lawn, enclosed by Cornish hedges planted with Tamarisk. Although enclosed, a determined dog or child could possibly get out. Large "L" shaped balcony on SW corner has spectacular views. Large enclosed courtyard, very pretty with fountain, pergola, dog kennel, stone built barbecue. Double garage, parking for up to 4 cars

Changeover Day: Thursday arrival - 3:00pm - departure - 10:00am.
Security Deposit: £200.
Pets Welcome: Maximum 2; Pets must be kept outside.
Power and Heat: Gas and electricity included in rent; gas c.h./hot water, coal-effect gas fires (lounge & dining room) The Barn: night storage heaters in bedrooms, heated towel rail bathroom, hot water electric immersion.
Bedding and Linen: Bed linen and towels provided (please bring your own beach towels).
Baby Equipment: Highchair; other equipment can be hired - see hire page.

Local Area

Stunning panoramic views can be seen from Trevose Head, which is the highest point of land along the North Cornish coast.  This vantage point allows you to see, on a clear day, many miles along the shoreline, and indeed nearly all the way along the entire length of coastline, from the border with Devon down to Pendeen Head west of St Ives. The Head and surrounding area is a Site of Special Scientific Interest, and is also home to many seabirds, whose keening cries can be heard for miles around.  Walkers will love exploring the rugged cliffs, where you can see some of the most spectacular scenery in the county, capturing the essence of this area.  Some of the birds that nest here include fulmar, guillemot and razorbill. Also recommended is a visit to the Trevose Lighthouse, and the lifeboat station on the opposite side of the headland, a reminder of the extraordinary work done by the lifeboat volunteers around this wild and rocky coastline. The main beaches along the headland are Constantine Bay, Mother Ivey's Bay and Booby's Bay.  When conditions on Booby's Bay are right, it is possible to see the remains of a wrecked ship looming up out of the sand (though this is often buried when sea currents cause the sand to shift).
