Carnevas Farmhouse dates back to the 1800s and is Grade II listed. It sits prominently and proudly in the landscape and boasts many original features - such as moulded plaster cornices and plasterwork and a beautiful staircase with a wrought iron balustrade which is lit by a stunning feature window complete with hand painted glass depicting a farmyard scene. The farmhouse is adjacent to Carnevas Holiday Park which offers on site facilities during the holiday season including a shop and bar, which serves meals. Porthcothan beach is just over 0.5 mile away by road, for a quieter and more scenic route, take the permissive path across farmland which links up with the South West Coastal Path. It was really lovely, home from home, one of the best cottages we have ever stayed at, very dog friendly, lovely large enclosed garden, and really restful and a gorgeous quiet location, perfect!
The house is beautiful, and in a great location – a 5-10 minute walk from the beach and a fantastic coastal walk. The host was responsive, and the place was clean and well maintained. We loved the little touches too - like milk in the fridge, and firewood to use with the lovely fireplace in the lounge. I'd really recommend this place, and would love to stay again.
Just lovely. This was my first time in Cornwall and I loved everything about it! Thankyou
Equipped with everything you need and more, with stunning views and beautifully clean. We can not recommend highly enough.
We had a wonderful week over August with our young children. The house was spacious and full of character. The big windows over looking the farm were wonderful to wake up to each morning. The location to wonderful North Cornish beaches and coastal walks was brilliant and the location perfect if you're looking for a quiet getaway. The kitchen was spotless and very well equipped. We have booked two weeks for next summer and we can't wait.
It was what it was. An old adorable farm building and we loved it. The owners were really quick to respond to any problems.
The property was full of character and had wonderful, spectacular views. For a large property in February it was very cosy. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and enjoyed exploring the area. We were blessed with amazing weather for our February holiday enabling us to explore the many stunning bays and walks in the area. The North Cornwall coast is absolutely wonderful and we holiday at least once a year in the Rock and Padstow area with visits to other resorts such as Polzeath and Fowey. We spend our time walking the coastal walks from Padstow to Stepper Point or Padstow to Wadebridge via the Camel trail. We use the Padstow/Rock ferry frequently and enjoy the spectacular estuary, the walks to Daymer Bay through to Polzeath, and Brae Hill and visit the St Enodoc church where Sir John Benjamin is buried plus visit to Prideaux Place and the walks surrounding the whole area. It is fabulous to walk and eat out with our family and knowing our dog is so welcome and the food in this area is always absolutely amazing with so many choices of amazing places to eat. Fabulous in summer and now we also found February to be just as amazing.
Porthcothan Bay is another of those locations which is just waiting to be discovered and explored. Within easy reach of Padstow and St Merryn, and a short drive up the coast road from Newquay and Mawgan Porth, the sheltered, sandy bay at Porthcothan is another of the many family-friendly beaches that can be enjoyed along this part of the coastline. It is also dog-friendly all year round, and boasts picturesque cliff walks and outstanding scenery. The area around Porthcothan is also home to a wide variety of sea birds, and the cliffs are often grazed by ponies and sheep, which helps with conservation of local plant life. The nearby village of St Merryn and the town of Padstow offer an excellent choice of pubs and restaurants, in addition to the local pub, the Tredrea Inn, which hosts live bands and also has a beer garden where you can sip your drink while admiring the superb views over the bay. Porthcothan Bay is also close to the village of St Eval, where anyone, whatever your age, can have loads of fun on the Karting Circuit, and when you're done, you can visit nearby Kernow Chocolate where you will find a wide range of yummy chocolate treats!
