Bro Tref House is a stunning and distinctive home set in the heart of the idyllic and secluded Cornish village of St Mawgan and only just over five minutes from spectacular Watergate Bay.  With over a mile of beach at low tide Watergate Bay is a hot destination for adrenaline junkies seeking surfing, kitesurfing, waveski, kite buggy, land board and mountain boarding but is just as popular with families for the traditional beach holiday, and dogs are welcome all year round.  The property has a lovely characterful feel, and the owners have taken care to furnish using both antique and contemporary style to create a wonderful relaxed and comfortable home.  Stylish bathrooms and fitted kitchen ensure a stress-free stay, and for the more active guests there are some wetsuits and surfboards provided.  The village of St Mawgan is set in a conservation area in the beautiful Vale of Lanherne and has to be one of the prettiest in Cornwall.  There is everything you need for your stay; an award winning 16th century village pub (which has a gorgeous wisteria growing over the stone facade, log fires, gardens and serves good food), a village shop (which can provide you with picnics for your days out), Post Office and craft and antique shops.  There is a river running through the middle of the village and a cricket ground as well as a beautiful and interesting church, parts of which date back to the 13th century.  The village is in a perfect location for exploring Cornwall and is within easy reach of Newquay airport.  The picturesque port of Padstow is just a 20 minute drive.  The Extreme Sports Academy and Jamie Oliver's Fifteen Restaurant at Watergate Bay, which also has an excellent surfing beach, are just a 5 minute drive and the lovely sandy cove of Mawgan Porth is a similar distance.

GARDEN & PARKING: Parking for 1 car outside property, other parking available on road alongside the wall of Bro Tref House and Bro Tref Cottage. Terrace to front with bench and steps up to grassed area with pond (take care with young children), table and chairs, and surrounded by borders. To rear steps up to small paved patio surrounded by herbs and with view over a meadow and the village beyond (NB. Steps steep and paving uneven).

Changeover Day: Saturday - arrival 3:00pm - departure 10:00am.
Pets Welcome: £25 per pet per week; maximum 2 Information about bringing your pet.
Power and Heat: Electricity included in rent; night storage heaters, underfloor heating bath/shower rooms, open fires in lounge and dining room.
Bedding and Linen: Bed linen provided; towels not provided but may be hired - see hire page.
Baby Equipment: Not provided but may be hired - see hire page.

Local Area

If you're seeking a holiday in the archetypal picturesque country village, St Mawgan is an excellent destination. You can have lunch at the Falcon Inn, a traditional pub with a warm welcome and excellent menu, walk through leafy lanes, past the village green and cricket ground, visit the Japanese Bonsai Gardens and craft shop, and round the afternoon off with a delicious cream tea from the local Post Office and Tea Room.  You would never guess that it's a short drive from the town of Newquay or the nearby airport. Down the road, Mawgan Porth village gives you a complete contrast.  The rugged cliffs that border the sheltered sandy bay invite you to enjoy bracing cliff walks and eye-catching scenery.  If you get tired, you can stop for fish and chips, or a meal at the Merrymoor Inn.  There is also Merlin Golf Club, and a pitch and putt course for those looking for family fun!  The entertainment continues in the summer holidays with Mawgan Porth's Donkey Derby and the annual duck race- choose your (plastic!) duck and join in the fun! Nearby Bedruthan Steps is a further example of the dramatic and spectacular coastline for which the area is renowned.  When you've exhausted yourself with all these possibilities, why not pamper yourself with a luxury spa treatment at either the Bedruthan or Scarlet Hotels- you've earned it!
