Property code: OC-PC072A

A south-east facing Victorian semi-detached cottage set in an attractive wooded valley 0.5 miles from Perranporth, home to one of the most stunning beaches in the whole of North Cornwall. Featuring an open-plan lounge/diner, two bedrooms and a large enclosed garden, this two-storey gem is perfect for small families or two couples craving a relaxing stay close to the sea.

Accessed via an unmade driveway, the cottage’s charm is immediately obvious even before you step inside its traditionally-styled interior. The open-plan lounge/diner is the kind of snuggly bolthole with a beamed ceiling that comes into its own in the evenings, with comfortable furniture all in one corner and countryside views through its large windows. The kitchen is deceptively large and will take care of any and all of the locally-produced food you can find during your travels. The first floor features a family bathroom and two homely bedrooms, a double bedroom and a twin bedroom, both of which offer ample storage. The cottage’s large enclosed garden enjoys wonderful views of the surrounding countryside, a perfect place to sit and watch the day over a picnic.

Perranporth’s three-mile sandy beach (0.5 miles) is a mecca for water sports lovers, its nearby sand dunes home to a multitude of wildlife. The village itself offers shops, cafes and pubs offering local delicacies, and a trip to any is the ideal way to begin or end a walk along one of the many walking trails in the area, not the least of which is the South West Coast Path.

We had a brilliant time staying at Smugglers cottage, tucked nicely up on the hill away from the hustle and bustle of Perranporth, but still close enough to walk to the beach. It is a wonderful base to explore the beautiful North Cornish coast, and make the most of what the area has to offer. Definitely worth a visit!

We loved our stay at Smugglers Cottage. The location was perfect, just a short walk to the shops and beach but being up the top of the lane meant it was quiet and out of the way. The cottage was homely and comfortable and had everything we needed. We hope to return again soon

Smugglers was such an easy and comfortable cottage to stay in very clean and lovely decor. The location is beautiful - nestled on a little lane in some woodland - less than ten minute walk to the beach/ shops/cafes etc and so close to the coast route. Theres a nice back lane and footpath walk to Mithien - for a visit to the Miners Arms pub which isRead more worth a visit. There is also a good bus service in the area theres an app called first bus which shows bus times and nearby bus stops - it just makes catching buses so simple when your in a new area and it was nice to catch a bus to both Newquay and Porthreath and then walk the coast paths back in either direction. The garden was lovely and it was really helpful to have a washing machine and washing line to hang up damp wetsuits etc. it is a narrow lane up to the cottage we drove up in a VW golf and that was fine. There is an electric charging point for cars if needed which we didnt use but its useful thing to access for electric or hybrid car users. The Wi-Fi is good and easy to log into. Perranporth was such a good base for coast walks, beach days and either eating in the cottage or going out for meals.. I cant say enough good things about it. Its just a really lovely place to stay.
