Local Area

Padstow is arguably now one of the best-known of Cornwall's holiday destinations - a working harbour still retaining the character of the fishing industry while also managing to reinvent itself as a modern holiday destination. Padstow has so much to offer the discerning holiday maker, with several beaches along the Camel Estuary, where you can also have a go at a range of water sports such as sailing and windsurfing, as well as a variety of boat trips such as fishing excursions, speedboat rides, sea-life safaris and the ever popular Jubilee Queen. You can indulge your passion for food at an excellent selection of restaurants in the town, which is now the base for a number of celebrity chefs including Rick Stein and Paul Ainsworth.  If you're looking for more active pursuits, you can cycle the Camel Trail, the route of the old railway line running between Padstow and Bodmin.  If walking is more your thing, there are many walking trails and routes waiting to be discovered, and if you're bringing a dog, there are plenty of dog-friendly places to explore. Gaining popularity in recent years is the Padstow Christmas Festival, now spread over four days, with cookery demonstrations, food and craft market, and entertainment.

Reviews

It was a great location for our holiday. Able to walk into Padstow and an easy drive to lots of beaches. It was excellent for the dog with quiet areas to walk, straight from the door. Ms Jennifer Mcguigan - 16th July 2018
We have rented this property before, it has always been clean and comfortable. The scones, jam, cream and milk are always welcoming, also milk, tea bags and newspaper. We have always found the staff at Cornish Horizons very polite, friendly and helpful. This area of Cornwall is beautiful and there is plenty to do. Shopping is not a problem with Tintagel, Padstow and Newquay close by. We will not hesitate to book with Cornish Horizons again. Mrs Jacqueline Wells - 2nd July 2018
All good and visited this property a number of times as the location is excellent and will do again if possible. Many thanksMr P Kingston - 28th May 2018
The property was lovely, friendly people. Would definitely like to come back again 2019 for two weeks especially when the Padstow county and steam fair is on.Miss J Burgoyne - 17th July 2017
Enjoyed the stay again and hope to go again in 2018.Mr P Kingston - 30th May 2017
I was impressed with the little extras. It was lovely to arrive to a cream tea with home made scones and although we didn't need the bag of logs because the weather was glorious, it was thoughtful of the owner to offer them.Mrs Angela Barton - 25th April 2017
This is our third or forth visit to this cottage so I think this shows we love Byre Cottage and its warm and welcoming owners. thank youMrs J Brook - 9th February 2017
Excellent will definitely recommend you.Mrs Lesley Kendall - 23rd May 2016
Fantastic beaches for children, dogs and everybody, excellent service from Cornish Horizons.Mr Barry Lintern - 18th February 2016
We had a week here in July & there is nothing you can fault. On arrival a cream tea is waiting for you and its the personal touches here that mean so much. We will definitely be going back. It's also lovely that the owner of this cottage comes to see you & if everything is alright. WONDERFUL..Mrs M - 4th August 2014
Our second visit to Byre Cottage and we have found it difficult to leave at the end of our stay! The owners are wonderful- flowers, cream tea and local papers on arrival. A visit during the evening on arrival day to ensure that everything is in order or if we require anything- nothing too much trouble for them and nothing 'satisfactory' or 'poor' to complain about. The proximity to Padstow is ideal- far enough away from the crowds, but near enough to walk to the town.Mrs H - 28th April 2014
Very happy with it . Good location to visit places from Good facilities, lovely welcome with a cream tea ,appreciated after a long drive. Would use it again Only draw back road a little noisy But very good and relaxing Thanks for a nice stay Tom Farrell
