Description

A delightful bungalow with sea and countryside views, surrounded by fields in an idyllic rural setting.  This peaceful spot is just over a 15 minute stroll from a village pub and the dramatic coastline, dotted with coves to explore, is only 1.5 miles away.  The stunning Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty that surrounds Sea View provides an abundance of picturesque walks - uncrowded and unspoilt, the area teems with wild flowers and rare wildlife.

One of the most challenging sections of the South West Coast Path passes nearby. The soaring cliffs, craggy shoreline, rocky outcrops and sparkling waterfalls along this part of the walk are spectacular.

The town of Bude is 20 minutes away, with many shops, pubs and restaurants as well as surfing beaches and a unique sea pool. Riding stables and lake fishing are available locally and Sea View is well-placed for day trips further south into Cornwall or north to explore Exmoor National Park.

This property offers a low occupancy discount on full weekly bookings of 20% for parties of 4 or fewer and 30% for parties of 2 or fewer at certain times of the year.  This means that that if low occupancy for 2, then you are restricted to the use of Bedroom 1 and if low occupancy for 4, then you are restricted to the use of Bedrooms 1 and 2.  This discount is automatically applied and the holiday price you are quoted reflects this. If you have any questions or require full use of the property, and don't want bedrooms to be unavailable, please call our friendly team on 01841 533331 or email cottages@cornishhorizons.co.uk for more information.

Local Area

Being at the gateway of an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, there is so much to discover, whether on foot, bicycle or horseback the stunning landscape with deep wooded valleys and pretty coastal villages is not to be missed.  You can visit Marsland Mouth, a rocky cove in this most northern part of Cornwall.  The stream called Marsland Water that drains across the beach marks the county boundary between Devon to the north and Cornwall to the south while the sandy beach, aptly named Sandymouth, is just three miles distant.  Morwenstow is close to the towns of Bude, Kilkhampton, Holsworthy, Hartland and Bideford - giving guests a wide variety of places to visit.

The history of the area goes way back - Morwenstow was named after St Morwenna who arrived in the 500's from Wales, along with around twenty brothers and sisters who settled in the valleys, moors and coastal area and became the early saints. There are still lots of remnants from these days in the holy wells that dot the landscape. Along the coastline are countless shipwrecks, over a hundred are documented in a few miles. For hundreds of years the few people eking a living could supplement their living with the bounty from the sea, and the area had a reputation for 'wrecking' or driving ships onto the coast by confusing them with lights. Whether this was true or not, a popular local prayer was 'Let there be no shipwrecks this night, but if there are let them be bountiful.'

Opposite the churchyard in Morwenstow are the Rectory Tea Rooms serving lunches and cream teas from Easter until the end of October. Just back from the church at Crosstown is the Bush Inn, a country pub serving meals. On the other side of the valley at Welcombe is another country pub, The Old Smithy Inn featuring retro decor, good food and a warm welcome.  Slightly further afield are plenty of interesting places for everyone - gardeners will love to see Hartland Abbey and Docton Mill Gardens, children will love The Milky Way adventure park and The Big Sheep, and beach lovers will find a spot for every persuasion, whether a big sandy expanse at low tide Sandymouth, or a quiet and romantic spot at hidden Stanbury Mouth. For those interested in surfing lessons, there is the Freewave surf academy at nearby Widemouth beach. Golfers can have a round at Ivyleaf, which is a 9 hole and good for all abilities, or for a more serious game try the links course at Bude Golf Club.

The property far exceeded our expectations and was so well equipped. The house was spotlessly clean. The garden was also very well maintained and looked beautiful.Mrs Lewis - 12th October 2016

Had a lovely stay at Sea View. Most relaxing was the quietness of it's location. Lots of walking, visited a few sites and generally chilled out. Wished we'd booked another week!Miss S C French - 16th May 2016
