The Barn is an ideal retreat for those looking to get away from it all. This lovely barn conversion is built in stone and slate and is filled with character features; vaulted beamed ceilings, rough plastered walls and thick slate window sills. One in a group of similar cottages and located in a very quiet location at Lower Halwyn, this hamlet overlooks the stunning River Camel and is only about 200m from the Oldtown inlet and the Camel Trail. This former railway track provides a flat, beautiful and car-free route into Padstow taking about 30 minutes' walk. Keen cyclists can enjoy the full 18 mile route, which starts at Padstow and meanders inland to Bodmin moor, or take it easy on the flat to Wadebridge taking in the natural beauty and wildlife which is there to be enjoyed, whatever time of the year you visit.
This property offers a low occupancy discount of 10% on full weekly bookings for parties of 2 or less at certain times of the year which means that bedroom 2 is unavailable to use. Padstow is arguably now one of the best-known of Cornwall's holiday destinations - a working harbour still retaining the character of the fishing industry while also managing to reinvent itself as a modern holiday destination. Padstow has so much to offer the discerning holiday maker, with several beaches along the Camel Estuary, where you can also have a go at a range of water sports such as sailing and windsurfing, as well as a variety of boat trips such as fishing excursions, speedboat rides, sea-life safaris and the ever popular Jubilee Queen. You can indulge your passion for food at an excellent selection of restaurants in the town, which is now the base for a number of celebrity chefs including Rick Stein and Paul Ainsworth. If you're looking for more active pursuits, you can cycle the Camel Trail, the route of the old railway line running between Padstow and Bodmin. If walking is more your thing, there are many walking trails and routes waiting to be discovered, and if you're bringing a dog, there are plenty of dog-friendly places to explore. Gaining popularity in recent years is the Padstow Christmas Festival, now spread over four days, with cookery demonstrations, food and craft market, and entertainment.
The Barn has stolen our hearts! We have had the best time and didn't want to leave! We feel blissed out and blessed to have had the opportunity to be here and discover Padstow and the fantastic walks around the area. Really hope to return.David & Lynne - 10th February 2017
We had a fantastic stay at the barn and can't wait to return.Mrs Jacqui Jenner - 6th December 2016
A fabulous cottage for us to have our first holiday as a family. The cottage is very well equipped, well looked after and in a beautiful spot. Being able to walk to Padstow along the Camel Trail is great, though takes about an hour with a buggy! The views in this area never disappoint! There are so many good places to eat but Cherry Trees in Padstow deserves a mention - their breakfasts & cream teas are amazing! Thank you for a wonderful week!Mr & Mrs Brooks - 1st October 2016
Lovely cottage, and well equipped. Great location for the Camel Trail and being able to walk into Padstow. A very comfortable stay! Meal out at the Pickwick Inn is recommended - particularly if you can pre-book a table by the window in the restaurant (lovely views of Padstow/Rock).Mr and Mrs Sinfield - 17th September 2016
Amazing location - spent most of our time on beach. The walk to Padstow is great, just far enough to earn a good coffee and pasty.Baker family - 20th August 2016
Another wonderful week in our favourite places. A change for us to come at this time of year. Absolutely scorching weather all week. Sad to leave but will be back soon enough! Ps. Best crab sandwich on earth - Pickwick Inn!Miss Sharpe - 23rd July 2016
We have had another lovely stay at 'The Barn'. The weather was kind to us and we managed to get out & about every day. Explored some new parts of the coastline - particularly loved the path between Port Quinn & Port Isaac. Cycled to Lanhydrock along the Camel Trail (I was ready for a cream tea by then) & made it back again. Would love to come again - it is such a great location & such a lovely place to stay. Thank you.The King family - 9th April 2016
'The Barn' has been a great place to see in the New Year. We really appreciated the thought & attention to detail that made it so cosy & comfortable even on the wettest days! Thank you for sharing your lovely cottage!Brown family - 1st January 2016
Nearly 3 years on from our last visit to The Barn, we love the house just as much. It's been our first trip to Cornwall in November and we've been lucky with the weather considering. Not too much rain and even some sun & blue sky today. Lovely days out visiting Padstow, Constantine Bay, Bedruthan Steps, Port Isaac & Boscastle. Thank you once again for a lovely, relaxing experience.Mr & Mrs Dunmur - 14th November 2015
Housekeeper very helpful. Barn still mega cosy. Location perfect.Mrs J Rose - 28th September 2015
