A stunning stone barn conversion with a wonderful countryside and estuary view, situated in a rural area yet only a short drive from Padstow and several beaches. The beautiful restoration of The Roundhouse used natural materials such as stone, wood and slate, and upstairs its open plan interior with high vaulted ceiling, exposed beams, modern woodburning stove and contemporary decor, gives it a delightful light and airy feel. The kitchen and dining areas at first floor level, together with lounge, a few steps down, master bedroom, kitchen, balcony and the garden all have wonderful countryside views down the valley to the estuary, Rock and the sea beyond. This peaceful retreat at Higher Halwyn is tucked right away from it all but a 10-15 minute drive will take you to Padstow, Wadebridge and several golden sandy beaches. It is on the edge of a small hamlet of similar dwellings found along a quiet farm lane leading down to the Camel estuary and in the other direction to the village of St. Issey and two public houses. The Camel Trail, just down the lane, follows the route of the old railway line between Padstow and Bodmin and is much loved by walkers and cyclists (bikes may be hired at Padstow or Wadebridge). The path wends its way alongside the river bank through this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with its abundant wildlife and if you are lucky you may catch a glimpse of an otter or a porpoise.

Padstow is arguably now one of the best-known of Cornwall's holiday destinations - a working harbour still retaining the character of the fishing industry while also managing to reinvent itself as a modern holiday destination. Padstow has so much to offer the discerning holiday maker, with several beaches along the Camel Estuary, where you can also have a go at a range of water sports such as sailing and windsurfing, as well as a variety of boat trips such as fishing excursions, speedboat rides, sea-life safaris and the ever popular Jubilee Queen. You can indulge your passion for food at an excellent selection of restaurants in the town, which is now the base for a number of celebrity chefs including Rick Stein and Paul Ainsworth. If you're looking for more active pursuits, you can cycle the Camel Trail, the route of the old railway line running between Padstow and Bodmin. If walking is more your thing, there are many walking trails and routes waiting to be discovered, and if you're bringing a dog, there are plenty of dog-friendly places to explore. Gaining popularity in recent years is the Padstow Christmas Festival, now spread over four days, with cookery demonstrations, food and craft market, and entertainment.
Adored the locations, loved the views and walks too. Visited Padstow and Newquay. We loved surfing at Watergate bay too.Miss K Shand - 24th June 2016
we had the most fantastic week at the roundhouse. Having stayed at quite a few self catering holiday cottages we were absolutely delighted with the standard of equipment and furnishings and what can I say about the view...outstanding. This was by far the best holiday we have had for years and would not hesitate in recommending this property or going back! one thing that would absolutely finish the property off is 2 gates are put across the side of the property to enclose the back garden.it looks like the fencing is newly installed and next door is fenced in. We only had pets to keep in but if you had children they could wander off! just a suggestion! Anyway I cant recommend Cornish Horizons or the Roundhouse enough and I will be doing so to all my friends!Mrs CLAIR Scully - 6th May 2016
Excellent service from the Cornish horizons team, was so pleased with the property and our stay. Wish I could return soon!Mr R Cox - 22nd April 2016
All excellent - impossible to fault anything. Whole experience perfect.Mr P Warren - 13th November 2015
A fantastic holiday! We could not have asked for a better location. The house is spacious and stylish with all the comforts of home and more! We loved the hot tub and used it most evenings whilst overlooking the wonderful view. Amazing!Mrs R - 18th August 2015
Excellent property; best we have ever been in. It had everything anybody could want and although there were 10 people staying, we all had plenty of space. Hot tub was good, even in the wet and windy weather!Mr L - 9th April 2015
The Roundhouse is a fabulous family home; what makes a nice change is to have plenty of cutlery, crockery and glassware for all the guests.Mrs D - 9th April 2015
