Rose Cottage, along with its sister properties Blackberry Cottage, Clover Cottage and Honeysuckle Cottage are part of Tregolls Farm, a working farm set deep in the rolling Cornish countryside. These lovely cottage barn conversions sit in beautifully maintained gardens, including herb gardens for each cottage, with constant birdsong and fantastic country views from every window. Yet they are only four miles from either the delightful river-side town of Wadebridge, with its many boutique shops and excellent eateries, or the main A30 route into the county. The fantastic beaches of the north coast can be reached within a 25 minute drive and there are many opportunities for countryside walks from the front door.

There are thoughtful extras in each cottage, including binoculars left at each window, hand-made patchwork quilts and throws, and a "Proper Cornish" cream tea awaits each family's arrival, to ensure you feel immediately welcomed to your rural idyll. Every morning at 9.00am Farmer Lester welcomes the younger visitors (of all ages) in the barn for a guided tour of the smaller farm animals who may need to be fed, including pet lambs, baby pygmy goats, chickens and rabbits. There are also wind-breaks, buckets and spades and crab lines to borrow, so you do not need to bring all those extras that usually fill up the car.

Local Area

The former market town of Wadebridge is another often-overlooked location, but is a great base for exploring many areas of Cornwall. The Camel Trail links it with Padstow and Bodmin, and it is also close to villages such as Polzeath and Rock. Wadebridge itself is a lively town boasting many amenities including a cinema, several local pubs which offer live music and good atmospheres, and a unique mix of local shops and businesses which make it stand out from many other small towns. The town's position on the Camel Estuary also makes it a good prospect for water-sports such as water-skiing, canoeing and sailing. Another talking point is the town's recently-acquired status as one of the country's foremost 'eco-towns' -many local people are advocates of renewable energy such as wind and solar power. This is largely down to the work of the Wadebridge Renewable Energy Network, whose aim is to make the town the first in Britain to be fully powered by renewable energy. Plenty of events take place in Wadebridge and surrounding area throughout the year, including the Royal Cornwall Show, and the popular Wadebridge Folk Festival.  There is also a beer festival in June, and The Big Lunch, a street party organised by the town's residents.

Travelling from Australia to see family was made very special by the standard of the accommodation. We would recommend anyone to visit.Mrs L Morse - 8th November 2015
