This traditional Cornish cottage, built in stone and slate and with open beams and tiled floor in part, has a relaxed and cosy feel with lots of character. It is located on the outskirts of St Columb Major in a beautiful countryside setting with access to 10 acres of fields that stretch down to tree lined meadows and ponds. The owners, who live in the adjacent house, have chickens, geese, ducks and cattle so please ensure your dog is on a lead when enjoying walks. Walhalla Cottage has a pretty and secluded courtyard (real suntrap) with table and chairs, a gravel drive, ample parking area, flower borders, shed and large enclosed dog proofed garden. It is private and a great rural retreat, just over a mile from the quintessential English market town of St Columb which has convenience stores and pubs.

GARDEN & PARKING: Pretty and secluded courtyard patio (a real suntrap), table, chairs, barbecue. Enclosed gravel driveway/parking area surrounded by trees and shrubs, further wooded garden area with garden furniture, the whole being fenced with your pets in mind. Garden shed for storage of bikes, surfboards, etc. but also may be used with wire netting screen as a dog kennel for times when you want to go out without your pet. Access to about 10 acres of fields leading down to two ponds. Stocked with chickens, ducks, geese and cattle so please ensure any pets are kept on a lead.
Changeover Day: Saturday - arrival 3:00pm - departure 10:00am.

Power and Heat: Electricity and heating included in rent; central heating (from the owners' property to the rear) plus a contemporary electric flame effect fire; hot water electric immersion.

St Columb is a lovely country village which enjoys a central location in Cornwall, being within around fifteen minutes' drive of many villages and towns in the local area, including Newquay, Wadebridge and Padstow. It is also around twenty minutes' drive from Truro, and if you fancy venturing further afield, is within an hour's drive of places such as Falmouth and St Ives. The surrounding area is not short on family attractions either, with the Cornish Birds Of Prey Centre just up the road, and other popular attractions such as Camel Creek Adventure Park (with a great selection of rides to keep kids of all ages amused, and lots of animals including pets corner and the ever popular Shire horses), and the Lappa Valley Railway, with plenty of diversions including crazy golf, a boating lake, play areas and nature trails. St Columb is now one of only two places in Cornwall (the other being St Ives) to keep up the ancient tradition of "hurling", a game where the whole town (split into two teams) participates, the aim being to carry the ball between two goals, which are two miles apart. The town also boasts a number of excellent pubs and restaurants, serving a variety of food whether you want pizza, fish and chips, Chinese takeaways or a good old Cornish cream tea.

Drove down the drive to the cottage and first impressions we're what a wonderful place to spend a holiday. We were meet by the owner, who was very pleasant and helpful. When we got in side it got even better. It was all very clean,(first time I have stayed anywhere and not had to wash the plates etc).
