Local Area

Camelford, situated within a few miles of the wild and rugged North Cornish coast, is perhaps best known for its history and its reputed links with King Arthur and the many stories and legends associated with him. One of the principal attractions of the area is King Arthur's castle, perched precariously atop the craggy and weathered cliffs. Those who are feeling adventurous might like to explore Merlin's Cave below the castle, which can be accessed at low tide. If you have an urge to get out and about exploring the landscape, a good option is to book a trip with Cornish Heritage Safaris, who offer a variety of tours of the local area, and can tell you some of the many stories, myths and legends associated with this part of Cornwall. In the town itself you can visit to the North Cornwall Museum and Gallery, with its exhibitions of the way of life of the local area in the early part of the last century, including traditional tools and crafts- a must for anyone interested in local history and traditions. Further out, and commanding spectacular views from most of the town, are the moors where you can spend hours walking and investigating rocky outcrops and windswept hills- if you've brought your canine companion, he'll love you for it!

Reviews

The accommodation was great and there was a lovely atmosphere.Suzanne & Keith - 20th October 2018
Everything that we required was on hand, enjoyed the large shower and appreciated the safety handle. A comprehensive and informative collection of local guides and we were pleased with the welcome pack including the cream tea. After a long journey the tea, coffee and milk was very welcome. We acted on recommendations of previous guests and enjoy the local pub and riverside walks.Keith Vobe - 16th October 2018
