Description

Wow! This is what you'll think when you set eyes on the spectacular views at Irish Farmhouse.  Situated just outside St Breward village, on the awe-inspiring Bodmin Moor, it is set within 3.5 acres of land.  A stay in this stunning detached farmhouse is an experience of a lifetime boasting the most breath-taking views which can be enjoyed from nearly every room. The gorgeous interior has been finished to a high standard where the owner has given very close attention to detail. All of the original features have been enhanced by the beautiful decor, complete with a woodburner for those cosy evenings. You will not be disappointed with this fantastic property. If extra accommodation is needed for family and friends, Little Irish sleeping 2 can be booked right next door.

St Breward village, set high above the Cornish landscape, is just a few minutes' drive.  Both the village and the moor are steeped in ancient history. The Old Inn, now renowned for its great food and all day Sunday Carvery, dates back to the 11th century when it provided shelter for the monks that built the church next door.  The St Breward Stores is a friendly, local shop which offers a wide range of goods and local produce - order online for your groceries to be delivered if you choose.  From Irish Farmhouse and Little Irish you can walk directly to two of Cornwall's best known landmarks - Rough Tor and Brown Willy which rise up to 1,360 feet and are the highest points in Cornwall.  There are superb views and on a good day both coasts can be seen.  The nearest beach, the ancient castle at Tintagel and the pretty market town of Wadebridge are all within a half hour drive making this property an excellent base to explore more of the Cornish Coast.

Local Area

If ever there was a place to fully appreciate the stark beauty of the Cornish landscape, Bodmin Moor has to be it.  With endless sweeping vistas in every direction, tumbled outcrops of granite, and inviting paths and tracks to explore, this area of Cornwall is a walker's paradise.  The famous Jamaica Inn is sited here, with all its literary and historical associations.  With plenty of sheep and moorland ponies wandering freely (be sure to keep your dog under control!) you can almost imagine you have been transported back to those bygone days.  More recently, of course, the moor was used extensively for filming on the new adaptation of Poldark.  When the dashing Mr Poldark gallops across your screen, you may well be seeing the scenery of the moor in the background. A large part of the moor has been designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest.  This region also has its fair share of Arthurian legends, another facet which lends a mysterious air to the landscape, and an extra depth to Cornwall's rich and varied history, and of course who can forget the rumours of the Beast of Bodmin Moor! The many other attractions, including the National Trust's Lanhydrock House, the verdant and flourishing Tamar Valley, historic sites such as castles, the Bodmin and Wenford Railway, and plenty of evidence of Cornwall's mining legacy, make this area a must-see.

A lovely farmhouse in a great location. Fully equipped with everything we needed. Mrs Dawn Hamilton Barrett - 15th February 2018
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Irish Farm. The house was spotless when we arrived and it felt like home as soon as we walked in. Highly recommended!Miss Vikki Austen - 2nd January 2018
We had a lovey stay at Irish Farmhouse. Beautiful cottage and surroundings. The camel trail was great fun. Make sure to visit the stables in St Breward for an alternative way to explore the Moors. Camel Valley Vineyard was also a fab evening out for adults! We have had a very enjoyable stay - thank you.Lynn, Andy, Libby, Rianna, Matt & Matt. - 27th August 2016
Lovely cottage in a picturesque setting. We had a wonderful stay. Loved to walk around the Moor and see the animals. We went to Padstow from Wadebridge cycling on the Camel Trail and from Bodmin to Wenfordbridge. Highly recommend! Perranporth beach is definitely great for rock pooling and surfing, (make sure to pop into Brown's Fish & Chips). Absolutely loved the garden, very spacious. Thank you for a wonderful stay.Lauren, John, Amy, Nathan & Edward - 20th August 2016
Very enjoyable week here in the cottage - lovely views and comfortable beds. Enjoyed our visits to Lanhydrock, beautiful house & gardens. Loved Boscastle and Port Isaac. The Rowlands - 6th August 2016
The house is beautiful and we have loved staying here, we are very sad to leave. Robert (age 7) - I loved this cottage and the outside as well. I like it on the Moor because we get to see the animals. I loved the beds because they were comfortable and big. The garden was great because you get to see the frogs jumping and the rabbits hiding in the corn. Thank you, I love this cottage!Richard, Beverley, Fiona & Robert - 30th July 2016
We celebrated my Dad's 70th birthday at Irish Farmhouse. Such a lovely house with great views, a great family 'hang out'. We're also very inspired with the home furnishings. Thanks for a great stay. The Hornby family - 10th July 2016
