Pack up your children, their friends and your dogs and head to this beautiful holiday home in Cornwall for a break. Situated slightly west of Bodmin Moor, this stone cottage is the perfect place for a family trip where you can enjoy the sea, explore the moors and learn about the local legends.

Enter the property to find a lounge with an electric fire set in the exposed brick. It’s the ideal spot for relaxing after a long walk or hosting an evening of board games. To the rear you’ll see French doors leading to the garden, and at the front is a bay window with a nook. There’s a dining room with a wood burner so you can feel cosy as you tuck into a hearty meal, and notice the wooden beams, a nod to the building’s history. Get cooking in the kitchen, clear and bright with everything you might need to prepare meals. Upstairs you’ll find three bedrooms. There’s one twin room, one bunk bedroom with ensuite WC and a super-king room with a four-poster bed and plenty of natural light. Finally, head to the garden for a stretching lawn, enclosed with a wooden fence and some bushes, which ends in a small dining area with a picnic table.

As you’re on the edge of Bodmin Moor, you’ll find plenty to explore. The area has lots of wildlife, legends and ruins, including King Arthur’s Hall (4 miles) and Trippet Stone Circle (3 miles). Look out for wild ponies and perhaps see if you can spot the Beast of Bodmin Moor. For more history, take a day trip to Tintagel (11.5 miles), the supposed location of King Arthur’s birth. The town is situated along the coast, so go for a splash on Trebarwith Beach (13 miles), which welcomes dogs.

We really loved the cottage and it's location and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It felt homely and was a very much needed break away and we would love to come back in the future. The village shop was great as was the pub. And the people we met in the village were extremely welcoming & friendly - would definitely recommend!!

This lovely old cottage is exactly that, old. Its full of character and creaky floorboards. The beds are comfortable and both showers are good. If you love rustic charm in a beautiful village (with the only village green in Cornwall) next door to a pub serving cracking ale and delicious food, this is highly recommended.

This is a charming property in a fabulous, peaceful setting. We liked the pub next door as it was very sociable and pleasant, although there is a bit of expected noise from drinkers in the evening. Overall the property was really good and well equipped, although we did have some gripes about the level of cleanliness and state of repair of some itemRead mores. For example, our bed linen seemed clean, but the pillow protectors were filthy so we laundered them ourselves. The property is old and has quite a musty smell, though unlike other reviewers we found it easy to open most of the windows which helped. The dining room and lounge are good and worked well for us, and the kitchen is pleasant and very well equipped. We went in high summer, which helped a lot with getting laundry dry as there is no tumble drier, which I think could be added for convenience. We we obliged to switch on the storage heater in the utility space to help dry things on the clothes horses. It's convenient and thoughtful that stair gates are provided at the top of the stairs but they are very old and broken and not safe enough, and they need to be replaced immediately in my view. It was also poor that the caretaker could not be contacted to help with some information I wanted. These negatives are outweighed by the positives though, which are that this is a wonderful characterful property in a perfect peaceful location. Our children loved the swings on the green opposite and we all really enjoyed the village with its charm, friendliness and community vibe. Hide

Lovely cottage in a nice little village, it had everything that we needed for a comfortable stay and was good value for money. It is right next door to a pub which we were aware of beforehand but hadn't truly considered how noisy it would be (other reviews didn't mention this!) - not just at night but early in the morning when moving kegs/glass, deRead moreliveries coming and parking right outside the cottage, so bear this is mind if you aren't an early riser, it woke us up most mornings! Lovely, spacious, well equipped cottage with a super new bathroom and kitchen. Situated in a quaint village in central Cornwall making it ideal for visiting lots of places and with a lovely pub next door. The negatives were, the garden is very overgrown and neglected, none of the windows open which makes it very hot and stuffy.
