This south-facing second-floor apartment overlooks the sweep of Watergate Bay, 150 metres from the sand on the North Cornwall coast. Ideal for families and couples after an active beach break, the apartment looks out over 2 miles of sand popular with surfers, kayakers, and beachgoers year-round. A watersports school on the beach offers lessons in surfing, kayaking, stand-up paddle boarding, and kite surfing, with the bay's direct exposure to incoming Atlantic swells making it an excellent spot for watersports. The coast path leads to Newquay's seven bays in one direction and Mawgan Porth in the other, providing coastal walks of varying length. The beach is popular with families, couples, and dog walkers as well as those chasing waves, and beachfront eateries and cafes sit along the shore. Music festivals and surf competitions run throughout the year, keeping the atmosphere lively.


The open-plan living area is arranged around a large corner leather sofa, armchair, and oversized bean bag, with a Smart TV and SONOS music system set up beside patio doors that open onto the furnished south-facing balcony. A dining table with six chairs sits alongside the kitchen area, keeping the cooking and eating spaces close together within one open-plan layout. The master bedroom has a king-size bed, bedside tables, large wardrobe, and chest of drawers, while the second bedroom is fitted with full-sized bunk beds and a pull-out truckle bed beneath, with its own Smart TV and DVD player – please note that floor space is limited when the truckle bed is in use. Both bedrooms share a shower room with a walk-in double shower, WC, and heated towel rail. An iron, ironing board, and hairdryer are also provided.


The full-width south-facing balcony is furnished with chairs and a small table for al fresco dining, with views stretching across Watergate Bay. An outdoor surf shower, shared with other residents in the development, is provided for rinsing off after the beach, and a secure storage cage in the basement stores surf boards, wetsuits, and beach toys. Lift access is available to the second floor of the building. To reach the beach, cross the road and head down the slipway. Designated parking is available for one car.

The location of this apartment could not be better for Watergate Bay. We had a great week and would choose The Waves again as it was quiet and had everything we wanted. Number 8 would benefit from some updating though and has the appearance of a well used apartment, although it was clean and has everything we needed.
