This charming cottage is the perfect little bolthole for couples for a relaxing holiday by the sea. This property is an opportunity to get out and explore South East Cornwall’s stunning coastline. Head out of your front door less than 150 metres to East Looe Beach, or take the South West Coast Path up to Millendreath Beach (1 mile), both of which have gorgeous sands.

A beautiful flagstone floor, exposed beams and a stone fireplace welcome you into the kitchen diner of this wonderful period property. Eat hearty breakfasts around the dining table before heading out for the day. When you return, get cosy on the sofa in the first-floor lounge among quaint coastal touches and watch some TV to unwind. When it’s time for bed, climb the stairs to the second floor; stunning wooden doors and painted ceiling beams transport you back in time, though we’re sure the bed will be modern-day comfy!

Grab your walking boots and head down the coast path to Polperro (5.5 miles) where crystal-clear waters and rugged cliffs await; the model village is a delightful way to spend an afternoon too. The National Trust’s Lantic Bay (9 miles) is also well worth a visit and is dog-friendly all year round if your furry friends have joined you. You have to experience the Eden Project (22 miles) while you’re here; you could also pop into nearby St Austell (24.5 miles) where you’ll find the popular brewery and plenty of shops and restaurants.

Looe is a beautiful place, and the cottage has lovely character and history, which we genuinely appreciated. However, we were disappointed with the condition on arrival. The property was heavily dusty and musty throughout and needed airing for several hours. Surfaces, crockery and cutlery all needed cleaning before use. The bedding was poor qualityRead more polyester with a stale smell. There was no welcome information of any kind, including no WiFi code. Towel provision was insufficient for a week-long stay. The location is excellent and the building itself is charming, but the overall experience did not match what we expected or paid for. Hide
