Enjoy a quiet romantic getaway for two (plus one dog!) at this charming property in the Cornish countryside. It’s ideal for those wanting to reconnect with each other and with nature, to slow down and explore this gorgeous area of the Lizard Heritage Coast. The converted former chapel, built in 1846, offers accommodation on one level and within one space for cosy comfort.
This wonderful reworking of an old building has heaps of character. The open-plan layout has clearly delineated areas for different functions and plenty of space to relax. Maintaining its rustic vibe outside with beautiful stonework, the interior feels bright and airy with skylights, vaulted ceilings and characterful touches like timber beams. There’s more great stuff outside, with a cute little enclosed garden with a small bistro table for al fresco meals or early morning cups of tea or coffee. There’s lawn and shingle alongside mature planting, plus a pergola complete with a fire pit that guests on two and four legs will love. There’s private parking for two cars, too.
This part of Cornwall is very slightly off the beaten track and has myriad stunning beaches, quaint villages and secluded coves to discover and explore. Porthallow village (1 mile) is popular for snorkelling, kayaking and swimming. You can join walking trails through the countryside practically from the front door. Or visit some of the attractions available nearby – within 8 miles there’s Halliggye Fog, Goodnhilly Downs National Nature Reserve and the Old Serpentine Works. Helston is a vibrant town 11 miles away where you can enjoy a leisurely holiday wander, dine or stock up on supplies.
