Set in the heart of Polruan, this detached cottage is a welcoming base for couples, small families and dog owners keen to discover Cornwall’s south coast. With a cosy lounge warmed by a wood burner, and a front garden from which to watch the world go by, everything is set for a wonderful Cornish escape.
The front door opens directly into the cosy lounge, where the wood burner creates a warm setting for cooler evenings under whitewashed beamed ceilings. Beyond this, the kitchen/diner is equipped for preparing everything from leisurely breakfasts to evening meals, with a dining table for eating together. A compact utility area at the rear houses a washing machine and tumble dryer. Upstairs, two comfortable bedrooms comprise a king-size and a twin, accompanied by a contemporary shower room. The pretty front garden is furnished with outdoor seating, making it a pleasant place for morning coffee, an evening drink or meals in the open air while village life goes by. Parking is available in the public car parks around 500 metres away, with charges applicable. Most local amenities, the ferry, and the beach are within walking distance, although the return journey involves steep lanes through the village, so suitable footwear is recommended.
The village’s narrow lanes lead to two pubs, two cafes, a shop and post office, with countryside and sea views all around. Swimmers can also make use of nearby designated harbour swim areas, including one 150 metres from the cottage. The passenger ferry is 150 metres away, crossing the river to Fowey in around half a mile, where independent shops, waterfront restaurants and pubs await, alongside St Catherine’s Castle and Readymoney Cove. Polperro is 6 miles away, Looe 10 miles, while the Eden Project, Carlyon Bay and Charlestown Harbour are all within 10.5 miles.
