This characterful cottage is set in an enviable location overlooking the River Fowley and would be the perfect base for your next holiday with family and friends thanks to its spacious living areas, smart balcony area for alfresco dining and direct beach access. Just 3 miles from the grassy cliffs of Gribbin Head and a short distance to the South West Coast Path, this riverside gem is perfect for active groups keen to discover Cornwall’s rich cultural, historical and natural attractions.

The two-storey cottage is set in an elevated position on the quayside and is surrounded by similar period properties. Each bright and airy room is finished with nautical colours and decor, some quirky, some artistic. The open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner is a comfortable space flanked on one side by a large window drawing in natural light and offering stunning views of Fowley at the same time. Inviting sofas sit under exposed ceiling beams with the comfort of a wood burner to one side. There is plenty of room in the kitchen for creative foodies, with the dining table only a tablespoon’s throw away. The en-suite double bedroom and spacious twin bedroom on the first floor are beautifully finished, with a charming family bathroom off to the side. The balcony beyond the lounge has a table and chairs for enjoying alfresco meals against a stunning backdrop.

Polruan Back Beach sits directly underneath the cottage and is a sandy portion of paradise for sunbathers, sandy castle builders and swimmers. Polruan is a charming village with a bustling quayside, with numerous pubs and restaurants scattered across its winding streets. Hop on the ferry to Fowey (1 mile) for more of the same or head off on the South West Coast Path (within 500 metres) and absorb natural wonders including Gribbin Head.

  • 2 bedrooms – 1 king-size and 1 twin
  • 1 bathroom and 1 en-suite bathroom
  • Electric oven and hob, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, washing machine, microwave and Nespresso coffee machine Wood burner
  • Electric and night storage heating included
  • Bed linen and towels included
  • Wi-Fi included
  • Beach, shop, and pub/restaurants within walking distance
  • Smart TV and radio in lounge
  • Regret no children under 7 years due to direct water access
  • Polruan is a quaint little village situated on a very steep hill, so access to some parts of the village can be challenging. Many of the amenities, ferries and cottages in Polruan are accessed via steps some of which can be steep.
  • There are many small winding streets that are not suitable for cars, therefore many properties in Polruan do not have private parking. However, there is a large pay and display carpark at the top of the village.
  • Arrival: 16:00 onwards
  • Departure: before 10:00
  • Sorry, no dogs allowed

Wow! When you enter the property, the view is spectacular! We've never stayed anywhere quite like this and it surpassed all expectations. I think the cottage is as close as you could possibly get to being on the water, whilst still being on dry land! The cottage is gorgeous, well furnished, beautifully thought out and very clean, comfortably & Read morefunctional. Polruan is a delight. I loved the steep pathways & enjoyed exploring the narrow streets and walk ways. Fabulous walking & views on the "Hall Walk" and lovely to find St. Wyllows church where Jane Slade & Daphne Du Maurier were both married. Dinner at The Russel was very tasty (do book though), lovely "Willows" cafe & well stocked shop, give you everything you need on your doorstep. And catching the little ferry boat from Polruan to Fowey couldn't be easier. Fowey is larger & has more shops/restaurants etc & as the last ferry back is at 11pm, gives great choice & flexibility. Thoroughly recommend the walk from Fowey to Gribbin Head - breath taking views! We were only there for a long weekend and packed a lot in. Can't wait to go back again for a longer stay! Thank you very much. Hide

A difficult property to reach, the access to the village is tricky and time consuming. The steep hill to the car park and steps to the property make it very difficult for anyone with mobility issues.

Highly recommend this beautiful property in the middle of Pol. It could not be more convenient. If you are lucky enough to snag a parking space on the quay then it's even more so. Warm and cosy with a lovely deck for sitting out over the beach.

We just loved the location and the views from all rooms. We didn't get to use the beach because of the weather so would love to come back again and do that. We really appreciated the balcony, especially as the glass was kept spotlessly clean. If it wasn't it would've impaired the view from the lounge.

We absolutely love coming to Polruan and staying at Waterwitch Cottage,we have stayed there 6 times now,we love it so much! The views and location are breathtaking!Obviously the outside terrace and steps down to the little beach are the main attraction and what makes Waterwitch really special! We loved the new bigger terrace, but were disappointed aRead moret the outside furniture given the cottage sleeps 4 people.Hopefully this is something that can be resolved to make Waterwitch absolutely perfect! We loved our stay at Waterwitch - it was so comfortable with everything we needed for a relaxing stay and the location was superb. Comfortable bed, clean bathrooms, beautiful view!
