  • The perfect rural retreat for couples wanting to get out and explore
Property code: OC-89250

For couples who seek a retreat of the wild kind, a stay in this unique cottage could be just the ticket. It’s perfect for exploring the Cornish countryside. Set off on an adventure on the Camel Trail (10 miles) and you’ll find yourself in wildlife-rich moorland and beside the rugged beauty of the coast on the traffic-free pathway of a former railway track.

This thoughtfully renovated barn is a blissful retreat where homely touches invite you in to take a seat and get cosy. The front door opens into the spacious living room, with two luxurious sofas and a large Smart TV for entertainment. Romantic evenings can be enjoyed by fixing a feast for two in the country-style kitchen to be eaten at the dining table. When you’re finished eating, take a few steps to the sofa situated beside the crackling wood burner and cuddle up beneath the exposed beams of the open-plan living area. Two lounge rooms mean you can pick a space that best suits your mood, or enjoy a little time to yourself with a good book on the sofa. Head upstairs to the first floor and you’ll find a place to rest your head in the king-size bedroom which features a vaulted ceiling, bright skylights and quirky matching furniture adding character. There is a quaint shower room situated in the mid section level with the kitchen/diner. To the front of the property is a private enclosed garden, ensuring that you needn’t leave your holiday home to enjoy the tranquillity of the location.

Choose to spend your days by the coast with the sandy shore of Looe just 10 miles away. Here, the vibrant harbour and quintessential seaside atmosphere charm all who visit. Delve deep into the woods in search of the spectacular cascades of Golitha Falls (7 miles) which descend over 90 metres along the River Fowey. The sights here are particularly spectacular in the spring, when woodland flowers cover the floor in a blanket of colour and attract rare wildlife to the area.

I made the mistake of using cushions from the sofa to sunbath in the garden, which I apologise for. As it was stated in the description of the cottage 'There is CCTV overlooking the car park and this will not affect your privacy ' , I sunbathed nowhere near the cars. In fact directly below the CCTV. No problem because I had been told it only pointRead moreed at the cars, NOT THE GARDEN. I received an email from holiday cottages, saying the owner had seen me using the cushions! From that moment on,my wife and I felt we had absolutely no privacy in the garden and left within hour. A great cottage if you like to get away from it all but a perfect base for touring. Immaculately presented.

Best holiday cottage I've stayed at in Cornwall for years. Perfectly placed for excellent dog walking nearby & only 20 mins from our favourite beach. The courtyard has the shade from about midday onwards which was great for lounging around with a tired spaniel in this heat. Oh & i want that bed!!

We loved the cottage. Definitely need a car but so many different places accessible within a 15/20 min drive. Beaches (Seaton, Tregantle, Talland) supermarkets, inland walks (Deerpark Forest, Golitha Falls, Sibleyback Reservoir), villages (Polperro, Looe, Fowey on the ferry), Lanhydrock House and eating places (do lunch and breakfast at Inkies at GRead moreolitha Falls you won't regret it!) Cottage well equipped and comfortable. Lovely outside area, private on the front more communal on the back. Hide

I booked the cottage based on the 5 star reviews but sadly, can't give it 5 stars from us. The cottage was spacious but lacked the welcoming touches that we would expect for what we paid. I was looking forward to lighting the log burner and getting cosy but there were no logs, just instructions for where to buy them. Not what we had hoped for - mayRead morebe better in the summer.
