Sowanna Farm Cottage is a lovely, spacious, well equipped place to enjoy time on the Lizard Peninsular. The location is very peaceful and one feels close to nature, surrounded by fields. Our host, Ann, gave us a very warm welcome which included a delicious cream tea. Beautiful Poldhu Cove is nearby and all parts of the peninsular are within easy reRead moreach. Hide

A lovely rural location and property was generally well equipped - apart from the 3 piece lounge furniture which we found uncomfortable and probably in need of replacement. Impossible to watch small TV in comfort after a day's travel. The arrival cream scones was a nice touch. Although a quiet location, privacy was not a good as we expected. The owRead moreners and their guests live in the same building so the view into our area was direct. Net curtains or preferably shutter blinds would have reduced this lack of privacy especially at night when we could not see if anyone was looking in. The drive up to the property was a farm track of about 0.6 mile and could be considered a little challenging - we did not meet the tractors coming and going into the fields but could easily have done so, probably requiring us to reverse some way. Overall a lovely picturesque, mainly quiet (frequent helicopters flying around from RAF Culdrose) property but with good and less good points in near equal measure. Hide

We had a lovely week here. I can't think of another word for the setting than idyllic. Highlights were proximity to Poldhu Cove, and public paths. We loved the walk to Gunwalloe through the incredible reed beds and countryside, which leads nicely to the Halzephron Inn. Great for enjoying nature. From the garden we saw an owl swoop down on some dinnRead moreer, and heard lots of birdsong. Ann and her husband are very pleasant, helpful, considerate hosts. We enjoyed the cream tea left out for us on arrival, what a lovely touch. The cottage is fairly plain. It had everything we needed and was well stocked with dishwasher tablets, hand soap, washing up liquid and even washing machine pods. Even though the property is semi-detached, the back garden with the picnic table is not overlooked and feels private. Hide

We have stayed in ten West Country cottages now, and this is certainly one of the best. Ann and Derek welcomed us with a cream tea and were most helpful if we had any questions. The loudest sound was birdsong. Although tucked away from any other dwellings it is very near delightful Poldhu Cove, and there is a well-maintained though quite energetic Read morefootpath to Gunwalloe and its waiting pub. We did enjoy our week! Hide
