This bright and airy cottage is one of five purpose-converted holiday homes in a complex on the beautiful Lizard Peninsula. Near the southernmost tip of the mainland UK, the region has arguably one of the best climates in the country and is rich with smuggling and maritime history. Complete with a shared heated pool, sunbathing area and 23 acres of farmland (including a working smallholding, park and picnic area) the estate is the ultimate base for an adventure in southern Cornwall.

The cottage interior has been stylishly decorated with white walls and fresh colours throughout. With an en-suite bathroom, breakfast bar and vaulted ceilings, space is used beautifully. The result is a light and comfortable home-from-home, whether you're popping in for a post-swim shower before heading out for dinner, or relaxing on the leather sofa planning your day over a morning coffee.

Mullion, the largest village on the Lizard, is just 3 miles south and home to local pubs, cafes, culture and conveniences, as well as access to the South West Coast Path and its stunning sea views. The location enables access to sites of natural and cultural beauty at the extremity of the South West, like the stunning views at Land's End, Lizard Point and the historic towns of Penzance and St Ives. Jumping on the A39 will give you access to Cornwall's most famous attractions, including The Eden Project and the castles at Pendennis and Tintagel.

Woodpecker Cottage is in a peaceful location with easy access to neighbouring beaches. Hosts were extremely welcoming and helpful, always ready to give help when needed. Cottage well equipped and tastefully decorated, overlooking heated outdoor swimming pool. A welcome pack of local groceries and a cream tea was much appreciated.

We loved our stay at Woodpecker Cottage so much that we have booked to stay again next June. The welcome pack was really good. Tricia had even made gluten free scones for me - but she needs to know that you have dietary requirements. Our cottage had a lovely view over the very warm pool and woodland. The pool is open 10 - 7 so the cottage is veryRead more quiet in the mornings and evenings. We saw very little of other guests during our stay. Everything is thought of here to make your stay comfy and easy. Very good hosts on hand if needed. We had a bird feeder right outside our window and saw goldfinches, chaffinches, blue tits, greats tits, coal tits among many others and a barn owl fly past in the woods in the evenings. Parking is a short walk away and we were able to unload just a few yards away from the front door. The location is superb for visiting so many beaches in the area and for walking too. You can walk along some really good local footpaths ( get an OS map ) and do a coastal walk and get the 34 bus back to just a minutes walk back to the drive down to the farm. We can't wait to return. Thank you very much. Hide

Quiet comfortable getaway in a good location for touring the Lizard peninsular, some beautiful gardens etc. The heated pool was excellent and Kev was very helpful when we arrived in unloading the car with us. Generous welcome back of goodies already in the cottage including a cream tea (just the thing after a long journey down).

Lovely owners greeted us on arrival. Such a generous touch by the owners to leave a tray of goodies of local produce; Bread, butter, freshly ground coffee, tea, cider, scones, jam and clotted cream. We feel that they certainly went the extra mile for us. The cottage was pretty, comfortable, plus everything there for our needs.

Just returned from a lovely week in Woodpecker. A really cosy, comfortable little cottage, with the added bonus of the outdoor heated swimming pool, so relaxing after a day coastal path walking. Ideally situated for bus's to Helston and the Lizard so we were able to do some really good walks on the SW Coastal Path. The walk down to the coastal pathRead more was a little farther than expected from the cottage description, but well worth it when we got there. And such a treat the basket of goodies! Hide
