Escape to this spectacular cedar, slate and stone home in Rock, where a heated outdoor pool, a sun-drenched garden and a marble kitchen island set the scene for a luxurious group getaway. Sleeping 12 people across five bedrooms, it's perfect for large families or groups of friends who are searching for a Scandinavian-chic base to call home while they surf at Polzeath, walk the coastal path to The Rumps, and discover everything that North Cornwall does best. Strike out along the South West Coast Path from Rock Beach (1 mile) to Greenaway Beach, where the quiet golden sands feel a world away from the busier coves nearby. Or hop aboard the foot ferry to Padstow and treat yourself to a sublime seafood lunch. In the evening, come home to take a dip in the heated outdoor pool and dine alfresco with the last of the day’s sunshine on your skin.
Pass through the gates and pull up in your private parking spot (there’s room for four cars). Take a moment to appreciate the architectural splendour of this striking timber-clad holiday home and step inside. You’ll find an exceptionally stylish, light-filled open-plan space where a rotating wood burner anchors the generous living space, and the marble kitchen island is built for gathering around. Cook up a feast and share an elegant meal at the resplendent dining table. Alternatively, head outside to fire up the charcoal BBQ and dine alfresco at the large dining table on the patio. Afterwards, retire to the lounge area and turn the rotating wood burner towards you to enjoy movie night on the Smart TV. When the day is done, you’ll find a double bedroom on the ground floor, and a super-king-size master with an en-suite with a glamorous freestanding bath and separate shower, a king-size, a double, and a bunk room with two sets of single bunks (suitable for children only) upstairs. Two shower rooms and a shower in the utility room complete the layout. In the morning, kick off the perfect day with a dip in the heated pool (open 11 April to 26 September).
Head to Rock Beach (1 mile) and strike out along the South West Coast Path at low tide, picking your way across the sands to Daymer Bay before climbing towards the ancient St Enodoc Church - a Grade I-listed Norman gem buried in the dunes that’s the resting place of poet John Betjeman. Further afield, head to Tintagel (14 miles) to walk out onto the cliff island and explore the dramatic 13th-century castle ruin where Arthurian legend was born.
