The village is famous as the home of shanty singers Fisherman’s Friends and TV medic Doc Martin, as well as a friendly selection of inns, ice cream shops and eateries. Visit the smaller hamlet of Port Gaverne (0.5 miles) for watersports, or head across the Pentire Headland to the golden sands of Polzeath (6.5 miles). Further south, upmarket Rock (8.5 miles) sits across the Camel Estuary from foodie-favourite Padstow (16 miles).
