While away sunny afternoons by the poolside and toast your toes beside the roaring open fire after coastal hikes. This four-bedroom retreat in Rock sleeps eight guests and makes an excellent year-round holiday option. The single-storey property is just 0.5 miles from Porthilly Cove and the magnificent Camel Estuary.
Let yourselves in and head straight through to the kitchen to pop the freshly baked Cornish pasties you have bought into the oven to warm. Open a bottle of wine, set the table and call everyone into the dining room for lunch. Spend evenings together playing games in the inviting lounge, with its plump seating and open fire. Choose a book from the shelves or pick up the remote control to the TV. Slide the patio doors open on hot days so you can spill out into the sunshine. When you are ready to rest and recuperate from your adventures, your tranquil bedrooms promise a perfect night’s sleep. Here, you have a king-size, with zip-and-link beds that can also be arranged as a twin if discussed at booking, plus two doubles and a twin. Guests benefit from both a family bathroom and a family shower room. There is also a utility room with laundry facilities. Challenge each other to boules and croquet out on the lawn. The pool is available from the end of April until the end of September. There is ample private parking.
Head out on a 2-mile walk alongside the estuary to swim at Daymer Bay. Polzeath Beach, also 2 miles away, is a beautiful beach for surfing, as well as swimming. Venture into Wadebridge, 6 miles away, to hire bikes and pedal out along the picturesque Camel Trail. Attempt the 5.5 section to Padstow. Alternatively, head out in the direction of Bodmin, just under 6 miles away.
