Set in the heart of Polzeath above a small parade of shops, this surprisingly roomy first-floor flat promises a dreamy coastal escape for larger families and groups of friends. Eight people and two dogs have the run of this holiday home, which features open-plan living and a balcony for al-fresco drinks and dining. Perfect for guests who love lazy beach days and strolling out to eat in the evening.

A private staircase leads up from street level to a welcoming hallway with space to shrug off sandy shoes and leave beach gear. Inside, the flat is light and contemporary with white walls and accents and artworks that reflect its coastal location. An open-plan lounge, kitchen and dining area offers a bright and sociable space to eat, drink, relax and chat together. Unwind on plush sofas to watch TV or gaze out to sea, cook up a storm on the double range-style oven, and gather around the lovely wooden table for meals and games. Sliding doors open onto the balcony, where there’s an outdoor sofa and a bistro table and chairs for outdoor drinks, dining and relaxing with views of the beach and sea. Four bedrooms offer a peaceful place to lay your head; choose between a double, a king-size and two bedrooms offers flexible zip-and-link beds. A bathroom and an en-suite shower room ensure comfort and convenience, and there’s allocated parking for one car.

With the beach just over the road, it couldn’t be easier to head out surfing, rock-pooling or swimming before grabbing a coffee, ice cream or meal from one of the village cafes, pubs and restaurants. The South West Coast Path runs through the villages, leading south past Greenaway Beach and Daymer Bay to the upmarket resort of Rock (2.5 miles by car). Enjoy the high-end dining of Cornwall’s ‘Saint-Tropez’ or hop on the foot ferry to Padstow (16 miles by road) for more foodie delights and stunning beaches.
