A beautiful setting in the North Cornwall countryside, glorious golden beaches close by, and wonderful walks on the doorstep: this delightful, converted barn is the perfect place for couples to unwind and recharge their batteries. Sleeping two guests, with a welcome for one canine companion, it is just a mile from the village of Kilkhampton, where you’ll find shops, traditional country pubs and a charming tearoom serving cream teas. There’s a wealth of scenic country and seaside walks to explore, and you can join the glorious South West Coast Path at dog-friendly Duckpool Beach, 3 miles away. Lively Bude (5 miles) is renowned for its magnificent beaches and has an excellent heritage centre, with exhibitions and galleries.

Your welcoming holiday hideaway, once a piggery, is one of four converted farm barns in this tranquil rural location. A stable door opens onto the charmingly furnished open-plan living space with a comfortable sofa, where you can relax and watch the TV. There’s a cosy dining area and the well-planned kitchen has a handy breakfast bar. Sleep well in the inviting king-size bedroom, with a splendid sleigh bed, an en-suite bathroom, and lovely countryside views. Step outside to find your own private, enclosed terrace with comfortable garden furniture, perfect for drinking in the peaceful vista as you make plans for tomorrow. There is private parking for one car.

You’ll find surf and other watersports schools on Bude’s splendid sands, while the sheltered sea pool on Summerleaze Beach offers quieter waters for a refreshing swim. Take your pet for a peaceful stroll along the towpath of Bude Canal or hire a canoe or kayak to explore this historic waterway. The cottage was well off the beaten track, just what we wanted. Stephen the farmer/owner was sociable and answered our questions about his heard of cattle.
