For a lovely olde-worlde feel, stay at this charming stone-built cottage in the historic fishing port of Newlyn. With two bedrooms, it’s a fitting option for small families or couples seeking to discover the beauty of West Cornwall. Newlyn is home to a lively harbour (200 metres) where you can watch the daily catch being brought in, and then pick up fresh fish for a delicious supper from a local fishmonger. With traditional pubs, an art gallery and excellent dining options all within 0.5 miles, everything you need is nearby.

A quaint coastal charm prevails at this sweet property, enhanced by a subtle colour scheme and thoughtful nautical touches throughout. You’ll enter through the lush front garden, where a glass porch leads you into the bright lounge. This lovely space has white-painted beams, a wood burner and comfortable seating for chilling out. A few steps lead to the bespoke Shaker-style kitchen/diner which includes a cosy corner for sharing meals. The family bathroom is on this same level, with a roll-top bath for indulgent holiday soaks. Upstairs, you’ll have a snug for relaxing with a Smart TV and soundbar, and a desk for if anyone needs to attend to any business. Both bedrooms are delightful: the front-facing king-size room has a sea-view window seat, while the zip-and-link super-king-size room at the rear has its own shower room and bi-fold doors opening onto a Juliet balcony. There’s lots of space for relaxing outdoors too – the front garden has a raised terrace area (perfect for soaking up the views), while the secluded rear garden is surrounded by delightful tree ferns and a traditional Cornish stone wall.

In the surrounding area, walk 1 mile along the promenade to reach the vibrant town of Penzance, with its pirate and quirky shops – or perhaps you’ll have a dip in the stunning Art Deco lido (1.5 miles) for a swim with a view. Mousehole village (2 miles) has lovely cobbled streets and a rich history, or head to Marazion (4.5 miles) to cross the causeway to the iconic St Michael’s Mount. Perranuthnoe (8 miles), with its golden beach and rock pools, is a fab option for families.

A really lovely property, furnished to a very high standard and spotlessly clean. We loved the well equipped kitchen. Great location and and ideal base for exploring this part of West Cornwall.
